However you feel about it, UFC is redefining itself as a stylized MA org.

Im not too bothered about Palhares.

He has no one to blame but himself.

^Too dangerous for the UFC?

I thought Okami was bullshit, because of who he was, how good he was, and what it represented.

Weve all argued about the rights and wrongs, and how it reflects on the "sport".

One thing is for sure though.

UFC is rapidly redefining itself as a stylized MA org.

We could get into the trash talking and the twitter leagues, but its really not necessary.

By going to war with dominant wrestling, banning one of the best leg specialists in the world, and presumably edging towards recriminations against point striking, and holding on the fence, - all these things are taking out elements of effective martial arts, that are constituents of MMA.

Whatever you feel about it, it creates an undeniable reality, of a stylized MA org, in place of the traditional broad roof, MMA free for all.

Paul Harris wasn't banned for using a leg lock and you know it. Also you said "presumably." What the UFC is turning into is a profit monger. If you don't make them money they will cut you.

Nevertheless, they have taken out one of the premier leg lock specialists in the game. He represented an asset in the diversity of fighting, however much he earned his exit.

Palhares was money, as well.

Still crying I see. Buy some lube next time, it will ease the butthurt.

The more sponsors that get involved in the sport, the more money that is on the table, the more changes will come down the pipe.

MMA as we know it today is already a watered down version of what it once was. Its not going to get better, only worse.

And as it continues to move toward something it shouldnt be, the more fans will come to accept what it is they're seeing and believe it to be the gospel truth. Its already a lie. You know what happens when you tell a lie? You've got to tell another lie to cover that one up. And before you know it you're swimming in the sea of fantasy.

Which is exactly where we're headed in this sport. Fantasy.

NFL consistently changes their sport. The easier and less ballsy answer is just cut mother fuckers. These are blips on the radar.

Great post. Make some threads on it. You have a great perspective going on there bud.

Irony is sweet. You are crying your ass off, about anyone critiquing the UFC.

Another great contribution from the brown belt, with a troll hiding behind it.

Sounds like a guy speaking from experience.

He got chael'd. In prison. Clearly.

They need to like pay someone to filter bullshit posts like this from making it to the front page.

They are too busy banning suspicious off topic troll accounts with 7 posts from 2010.

1. Doesnt like thread.

2. Actually gets offended someone has a different idea than him on the internet.

3. Clicks thread to bump it.

The English Language has 1,013,913 words, and none of them strong enough to aptly describe your level of fail.

So heres a picture instead bud.

The purpose of the UFC is to make as much money as possible. They do that by making fights. They also recognize that we live in an entertainment culture and you need enough of that to keep peoples attention.

It would be foolish of them to gut the reality and legitimate sporting elements. However they must maximize entertainment at the same time to keep things juiced.

It's a fine line they are walking. Clearly they don't always get it right. Also clear is the fact that they have gotten it right enough to be successful so far.

I definitely agree with this. It's unfortunate as hell, I guess they're trying to bring in more viewers by trying to make it appear less "brutal", "barbaric", ect.

You know whats worse than being boring?

Being weak.

If they keep getting rid of elite fighters, and renewing only exciting ones, they will have a problem.

Its not just about sport and lineage, its also about the simple fact, guys like Okami are better than guys like E Silva.

They kicked him out because he was a liability to get people hurt, everything now days is about being safe as possible. Even in hockey they've been talking about banning fighting completely for quite some time despite how big of a fan pleaser those brawls can be. Everything is going to be going towards a future where guys won't have to risk permanent damage for doing their job.

profit monger? thats basically an oxymoron.

no company in the history of man ever said, "lets minimize profits, not make too much money, forget about the future and spend nothing on growth."

Celebrity MMA would maximize profits.

palhares was a dirty fight who was busted for roids in the past, has pulled this same crap with holding subs before,,and has been destroyed by upper tier fighters...This guy was not winning a title in the ufc ever...good move by UFC to get rid of this guy

A lot of the roster have chemical infringements. Palhares has no one to blame but himself. I said that.

Most fighters wont win a title, and the guys who have been cut, are a lot closer than most will ever be.

We are just getting to the point, where guys like E silva get title shots by beating other guys, who would all get pistol whipped by guys who are cut from the ufc.

What happens when the champ retires, - and the rest of the division is under par?

Maybe just don't watch then? Then again, you have 2000 posts on an MMA forum in 3 months; I'm pretty sure the UFC has your wallet locked up tighter than a Palhares Heelhook.
