Luke was crazy out of position. He basically had the side of his head facing Bisping head on--a big no-no and a rookie mistake.
Bisping said even before the match that he wouldn't be in great shape, so he'd be working for an early stoppage, i.e., he'd be throwing more power shots. And he threw that first "left hook" with everything behind it. His full body weight it's behind that punch. Look at his legs and how much push he's getting out of them.
Luke's total disregard for Bisping (as in, his total cocky idiocy) made him believe that he was untouchable--even in the worst possible position.
bad technique + overconfidence. joe rogan noted that luke was standing straight up with his chin out during the fight, he also leans over whenever he throws a punch. he overcommitted to the jab and leaned into the hook that bisping threw.
Luke had the exact same holes in their first fight and he came in thinking the same thing was gonna happen and Bisping grew up a little bit after he fought Anderson, because prior Bisping had always had trouble fighting against southpaws and he actually learned the mechanics in that Silva fight.
I remember when Luke dominated that first fight, I was not impressed one bit by what was going on. Luke really just had a couple tricks up his sleeves and basically spammed check hooks and head kicks but he was so overly stronger that Bisping couldn't work his way around it.
