So Ferguson pointed that a 12 fight win streak never earned him a title shot, but Chandler got one after one UFC win

    https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...y-ferguson-dana-white-privilege-b1847675.html

Let's not pretend that the matchmaking and title shot choosing/rankings of the UFC is in anyway fair or representative of a proper sport.
It's the prize fight game and who gets the chance to be champion is who is assessed as being able to draw and make the most money to appeal to the audience ('the McGregor effect').
See it and say it for what it is.

So what you're saying is that this company is interested in making the most money possible and will choose what they consider a more marketable option over a less marketable one (at least in their eyes?)

    Groundbreaking stuff.

It's not comparable to Pro Wrestling lol

Chandler was deserving of the shot, it could've gone to someone else, but there wasn't another obvious contender with Dustin fighting Conor

It's been getting worse lately with these unwarranted title shots, punctuated with Jorge getting an immediate rematch after losing a lopsided first fight. At least we got a nice KO out of it

UFC is a corporation, they're going to do everything they can to maximize their profits. Preferential treatment, quick paths to the belt for draws, gimme #1 contender fights, instant rematches even after stoppage losses, you name it.

Whoa, whoa, wait up.....hold on a second here. So you're telling me that in mma the promotion will consider the fighters ability to generate revenue, ratings and how exciting they fight when giving title shots? And fighters that can sell more ppvs and get better ratings get preferential treatment when it comes to getting title shots? Wow, I would have never thought. What a crazy idea and I am blown away.

What are you gonna tell you gonna next?? That there may be some fighters in mma who take PEDs?

They say you’re only as good as your last fight. Of course, there’s an asterisk next to that saying

Keep in mind that Tony got multiple title shots. Just the fights always fell through.

Ferguson didn't enter the UFC as the former champ of another major organization, either.

Then people need to stop calling the champs the best fighters in the world/division

"The UFC champion, also known as the most marketable board approved revenue generating face we could put the strap on who had a chance".

Gegard 'born in Iran' Mousassi also called out this shit before he left when he was running the UFC MW division and these little bitches in the boardroom didn't want to give him a shot

Of course they give preferential treatment, but Tony win streak didn't really have any wins that would put him in the title picture until RDA while Conor had the title hostage for a year so he fought FKL, then he had a torn ACL and a nervous breakdown while Khabib won the title, then covid happened and canceled another fight with Khabib. A lot of it is bad luck and good luck for Chandler, but Chandler also did come in with a bigger name from another org whereas Tony started out on TUF.

Mousassi wasn't running the division at any point. He had Romero and Jacare ahead of him in line for a title shot.

Didn’t he win TUF tho.. a lot TUF winners went on to get title shots a lot quicker than Tony.
I think UFC saw Tony as a head case, and didn’t want him as a champ.

Compared to guys who got the shot like Bisping...ok

Joke that Bisping gets to be a former MW champ and he doesn't. Do you think GSP would have dared step in the ring with Mousassi?
In fact let's add GSP now to the ridiculous list as well.

Been telling y'all for years dipshits. UFC is fixed / rigged. They choose who is champion by giving certain guys bullshit ass title shots. They can't get in and fight for McGregor or Couture but they'll give them infinite title shots then claim those average at best fighters made history. No, they were just given unfair chances not many others got.

Been saying it for a while, Dariush would beat Clown Boy McGregor

You know, sometimes I forget that. That's a good and damn sad point. Him at the top of his game vs Khabib would have been an amazing fight.

Seems like he was talking about pay and not rankings. No doubt that moose had the skills to win against any of the top guys in the division.
