How would u do rolling with Kimbo

I never said anything about beating a champion. What exactly is Kimbo supposed to be the champion of again? Fixed backyard bareknuckle boxing matches filmed on handheld camera by internet pornographers?

The truth is, Kimbo belongs on the undercard at a smaller promotion. He is a very low level MMA fighter at the moment. Implying that he is the champion of anything of note is insulting to all the real MMA champions out there.

The question is not whether I could beat an MMA champion in a grappling match. The question is whether or not I could beat Kimbo Slice -- a low level MMA fighter. It also happens to be true that Kimbo Slice has extremely limited grappling experience even considering the fact that he is a low level MMA fighter. Given these facts, I do believe I could beat Kimbo in a grappling match.

Please do not further disgrace MMA by implying that Kimbo is a legitimate athletic champion.

The comment was not to make it seem like Kimbo is a champion. What I am saying and I covered it more on a different post is how people are always on these sites saying how they can sub most anyone. I do not recall if it was even you that was saying it, as the comment was ment in general to everyone who post and says they can beat this person or that person that they see on tv. How people can take all of these fighters, how they can out box chuck Liddell or whoever the thread is about.

Kimbo has holes in his game without a doubt. He is limited but he does have some strength. I am sure that some people on this site could beat him but I am also sure that there are more who say they can but know they are safe behind their keyboard. These are general statements and not directed at anyone person at all.

Kimbo is the new tank Abbott. He is going to be a crowd pleaser who likes to fight and hurt people. If Kimbo is such a low level MMA fighter then why compare your skills to him? Is it that people are upset that he is on prime time?

I am going to start a new thread called????????? I can beat Kimbo at baseball. No punches or grappling just a baseball game. I think any kid with two years of tee ball should be able to beat him.

I think you're missing the point. People arent calling out random, low-level mma fighters to say how much better they are than these "pros."

The fact of the matter is that "Kimbo Slice" appeared as the headliner, and the biggest name, on the first ever mma show on primetime network television. For millions of people, this was the first exposure ever to MMA. The fact that this exposure gave them a guy that many people on this site legitimately believe they could submit is where the fuss stems.

Its not about the fact that hes making money (at least not for me; I could care less). Its that my female coworker was excited to tell me that she watched the fights and saw that "huge kimbo guy," and was disappointed when I explained how I thought Kimbo sucks and I was upset that he was the main event because that wasnt indicative of MMA in the least. When I told her JT lost 7 of his last 9, gets knocked out on a regular basis, and all in all just sucks, she was just like "oh. I thought he was supposed to be good."

Thats the problem with Kimbo and EliteXC - that fight, and even the card as a whole, were just not indicative of the sport. A guy that most of us could submit is far from a "mixed" martial artist; hes nothing more than a glorified street fighter.

I disagree, training isn't all he does. He smokes, drinks, and smokes weed. That is HARDLY a good training regimen.

source?

I dont like the guy, but I hear he works his ass off in the gym. Lets not confuse his skills with his work ethic.

With a gi, I would go for the choke or wristlock :D, without gi kneebar or anklelock!

there is a video from kimbo taken like a few months ago where he is training grapping with striking trainer Shawn Tompkins and he cannot maintain sidemount for 5 seconds, he got reversed every time, no exaggeration. i am no punk and I don't talk shit, I think I would just tap him... I would probably go for the sweep, he seems like his balance is bad, besides, he has no grappling background.. he is a hell of an athlete though

he jits sucks compared to the pros but i think he would tap your average jiu jitsu guy
he would deffinatly tap me cause his strength and cause im only 130 lbs but i think he would be a little above average if u tossed him in a gym

Kimbo might be a little above average at Sensei Al's House of Ompelata.

God help you if you train at any other place where Kimbo's jiu-jitsu would be considered "a little above average."

He'd be above average at a white belt run college club.

I can guarantee you any club run by a purple or above would have the lions share of students more technically competent than Kimbo.

Bas claims the pressure might have gotten to Slice. I'm tempted to agree, but even a grappling noob would remember to close the guard.

if its wrong to judge the tech striking of a fighter in an mma match cus its not striking; but mma, isn't it wrong to judge kimbos (pure) grappling in an mma match.

i would like to get an idea of what kimbo looks like when working on his grappling in his training sessions; that would provide a much better idea of what he has to offer.

that being said, its pretty obvious that he is obv far behind in regards to tech skill to most on this forum; as most of us have some background which puts us a few steps ahead of kimbo as well.

i personally think he looked ok for a person w/no background and limited grappling training/expertise; he has been learning mma. the emphasis being placed on his striking cus its what he is best at. So given its his 4th fight and he has no background and only limited grappling training/sparring, then he showed some potential and growth.

I'm pretty sure i could get a rolling leglock from the feet on him, but that would be my best chance as someone that big on top of me would be a burden. Guys that are 215lbs on top of me feel like 2 tons and he would be going all out with his strength so leg locks would probably be my best answer to someone like that. if I took his back he would probably stand fall backward and squish me so yeah leglock or wait for him to tire.

Well im a bluebelt but I'm just like 170 pounds so I think I would struggle of my back.
If I somehow could get him on his back I think I would pass and submit rather easily.
However from my back I think he is to strong for me to try armbars and triangels, I would have to go for the legs or try armdrags and take his back Marcelo style.

Tapping Kimbo would be easy, not getting worked a little would be hard. He looks like he has some good beginnner defenses in place.

leg lock / toe hold is the best way to go.

How about a fist fight? How good would some of you guys do then?

I'd touch gloves fall to the ground and tap...b/c I'm guessing I better be getting at least six figures in a standup fight with kimbo. I'm pretty sure right after the glove tap I would drop with a pretty serious knee injury.
