How would Ronda do at ADCC?

based on past events, I think she would get 4th but somehow still get a bronze medal

She'd armbar everyone in less than a minute you goof. Haven't you heard? She's better than everyone at everything!

She can out put tiger, out dunk lebron has a faster serve than both Williams sisters combined. Runs faster than usain bolt!

Better footwork and faster hands than maywether with tysons power

Athlete of the millenium!

LOL, Ronda couldn't even pass Miesha's guard in their second fight, and people think she would rule Abu Dhabi. She could win a favorable match-up, but she wouldn't medal.

Watch her guard passing at 8:00 and 11:20 and then tell me how you think she would do at ADCC.

It's a good point, except for the fact that it's not the only way to score points in Abu Dhabi.

Throw, scramble, wait for them to stand up is actually enough to win.

You can't throw people and run away to stall out a win on takedown points. If you don't try to pass the guard you'll be penalized for stalling.

This is from your link.

ADCC said:
Penalties (Negative Points):

• When a fighter disengages from contact and starts backing up and avoids engaging again he will be punished by minus point.

It must suck trying to make weight with those assets.

Wow wtf is up with women's BJJ?? This is another competitor Michele Nicolini:

Female athletes who aren't flat chested?

Praise be.

She doesn't have to stall. She can try to pass the guard, fail, and eventually they stand her up. As long as she doesn't put herself in bad positions, it's possible to force a stalemate even while on offense. And that's assuming she even lands in guard instead of landing in side control where she can implement her arm bar game.

That doesn't mean that she can do so against high level BJJ practitioners, just that it isn't unheard of to do so.

Heck, watch Cyborg's fight at the Mundials.

Stranger stuff has happened.

She would fucking own it

The only non-MMA female athletes I watch with any regularity are soccer chicks and they are excruciatingly not well endowed in that area.

Except for Sydney Leroux

It isn't MMA; no one will be stood-up. All opponents will pull guard against her, so there is zero chance of a takedown.

Say what? You're going to try to pull guard or jump guard on an Olympic judoka?

I'm not saying it's impossible, but if you're starting standing it's not like her hips are going to be close and conveniently waiting for you to wrap your legs around them. And in a similar weight class, she's going to have significantly greater strength (and grip strength) than her opponents (Judo vs BJJ training).

It's just not THAT easy.

she'd probably do well, maybe even win.

The only thing that makes me wonder is that she really excels most in scrambles which are usually initiated by some sort of strikes either by her or if she's on her back by her opponents.

I would imagine that it'd be much more traditional slow and controlled movements in the adcc. That being said, she's pretty good and could still do great.

On a side note in all of Ronda's MMA fights not once have a seen an opponent use kicks against her..why?

As bad as women are at punching... they're far worse in kicking. Plus Ronda is on them like glue. No space, even if they knew how to kick.

The girl in the video you posted made no effort to pull guard, she tried to out-wrestle Ronda. No one high level will attempt that. All her opponent has to do is sit down.

It's just not THAT easy.

Here is Paulo Miayo pulling guard against Judo Olympian Travis Stevens. As it turns out, it is that easy.

Sitting down is easy, but that was at Copa.

ADCC is getting a lot more aggressive in terms of punishing pulling guard without action, not only in time allowed (20s) but when people sit on their guards too much (Miyao double DQ).

We should also keep in mind that fighters like Mackenzie Dern and Gabi Garcia purposely don't start with a sitting guard, they start out with wrestling and stand up because they aren't fans of the fighting style.

There's a reason why very few BJJ competitors emulate the Miyao style. It's boring as hell, and extremely impractical because in an actual fight someone would just punch them in the head if they got caught in a guard facing the wrong way.

That's not to say that Rousey wins at ADCC, but the assumption that every woman will simply walk up, grab a sleeve and sit down is a serious stretch.

Anyway, this is getting into a technical tit for tat so would probably be best served in the grappling forum.

If I had realized this thread was in teh heavies, I wouldn't have bothered. LOL

She has trained with Gracie academy for a long time now, so I guess she can do a bit more than armbar, I think she could win a bronze.

i've always been curious about that too. shes a specialist for sure, but so was palhares and he almost leglocked his way through ADCC
