How will you remember

Depends on how he manages the rest of his career. I think Jon was seen as the greatest fighter of all time, but then the PEDs and inactivity, last 4 years tarnished his reputation somewhat. This fight with Stipe so far hasn't done much for him and his taken heat for fighting Stipe as he hasn't given much indication he wants to fight Aspinal.

I think if he beats Stipe and retires, he will still be seen as the greatest fighter of all time, but people will bring up these other things to bring him down. On top of that, he will take a lot of heat for not fighting Aspinal and that can bring him down. Fans tend to remember what a fighter did last and how they ended their career.

If he beats Stipe and then fights Tom, and wins it will really put him on top. Fans and critics wont have much to go on. So a lof of it depends on how he beats Stipe and if he fights and beats Tom.
All of that about Aspinall could have been said of Gane too so I doubt it. Many people on here couldn't wait to see Gane take Jones out and they were very confident about it.

Jon Jones when he finally fucks off into retirement?

Will you remember his for the criminal, drug addled, cheating mess that he is?

Or will you swing from his testicles and act like the last 5-6 years of his career didn't happen?

I personally think he won't be remembered longer than it takes to get an oil change, but that's just me.

When I look at Jon Jones I see a massively talented fighter that wasted half of his career in suspension, court, getting stripped of his belt more than once, drugs, PEDs, and assaults.
Really left a lot on the table, and a lot to be desired.

I will remember him for exactly what he is. A can.

The Goat.

Jones went in there and cleaned house as a teenager. In one of the best divisions with the coolest cats in the game. Beat the shit out of everyone. Criss crossed names of greats off his list like it was fucking Tic-Tac-Toe.. The close fights he had, ruined his opponents. Never quit. Never gave up. Never tapped . Never lost. A few took him to the edge of the bridge but none ever knocked him off. After they fought Jones, They were never the same. Scarred Broken men. Shadows of their former selves.

Guys are quitting over splinters in their toes nowadays. Jon Jones fought with his big toe ripped nearly off. Hanging on by tendons and a few ligaments and did not even flinch. Finished the fight. Survived that Armbar from Vitor that would have submitted everyone in the division. Only to come back and submit Belfort. Out grappled greats Like DC. Jones took pride in beating fighters at their own game. If you were a grappler, he beat you grappling. If you were a striker, He stood with you and wore ya down. He is a pure maniac. No one but GSP did that shit.

Love him or hate him. He is a once in a lifetime fighter. No one will do what he did for a very long time in the UFC. If ever. He is the GOAT!

I think you are crazy to think he will be forgotten, he has a highlight real that you can argue is the best and despite his personal short comings as a human being one could make a convincing argument that he is the best mma fighter of all time. The guy that beat Shogun would have beat Fedor prime vs prime.

I think jones is going to be remembered as the best /one of the greats as well as a guy with a huge asterisks next to his name. It's funny to talk about the goat and talk about the what could have been and be talking about the same guy. But thats kind of who he is.

I think you are way off the mark this time sir.

Disclaimer....Jones killing Shogun is my fave fight of all time and probably my top mma moment. I can't justify his personal life at all. But man that run was incredible and I enjoyed those fights

I mean it seems like he was gone for many years and never missed him once. He's the goat but I didn't enjoy his career.

I will remember him by this quote “a grain of salt in an Olympic sized swimming pool”

A cautionary tale of how talent can overcome lack of honor, or how lack of honor can weigh down talent, or a mix of both.
