First, let me start by saying I'm a Woodley fan. His fight persona and matches can be a little dry but I enjoy almost every interview I see him in.

All of that said, Woodley has strongly hinted and flat out said at times the reason he isn't respected or cheered is because he's a successful black man in a white sport.

Personally, I think this is ridiculous and I think he's too caught up in Twitter trolls and wanting to blame racism on why he's not loved. He's mentioned that MMA fans cheer guys like Conor who is a hooligan while boo guys like Woodley who is a nice guy.

Now that Woodley is fighting Colby Covington, he has an interesting dilemma. He's now a guy that most everyone is going to cheer against a brash white man. How is he going to rationalize this?

What is comes down to is not skin color but attitude. Woodley doesn't have the greatest charisma, exciting matches and has come across as whiney. That's why he's not liked. Fighting Colby though, he's going to be a fan favorite and hopefully he realizes it wasn't the skin color that was holding him down but the attitude.

He will probably just be happy to finally get some love from the fans.

Either you're answering your own question or this is an excuse to call out Woodley.

Assuming he cares, he'll rationalize getting cheered by saying Colby was unpopular....Is this a trick question?

Don't you think both of them will be booed?

I mean, he’s right...

His main problem is that he overgeneralizes.

Hes gonna realize thats its not about being black or white....

And call that, being racist

They will both get booed. Or there will be just silence, I doubt he'll get cheered,

Woodley wil get humbled like here

They're just white apologists.

If he wins, I bet he never gets disrespected or boo'd by the fans again.

You are 100% right that Woodley doesn't have the greatest charisma, which certainly plays a factor in is likeability.

But to pretend that race doesnt factor at all into the equation is utterly ridiculous. Rory McDonald has the personality of a doorknob, and is almost universally loved. Plenty more examples like this also.

At the end of the day, Woodley gave back 30% of his purse to Kevin Gastelum, because he said "he understands how tough it is for an up and coming fighter to make ends meet"

That is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard of a fighter doing, and for that reason alone, I will always be a fan .

Woodley is a beast, and Sherdog is overly sensitive and emotional.

Nothing new.

I don’t think he cares that much to be honest.
