10 years down the road, will everything stay the same? I'm talking in terms of format and content. Would it be a good idea for the UFC to do cross-sport events in the future? Say, have high-level MMA, Kickboxing, and Jiu-Jitsu, all in one night, maybe 1-2+ times per year. Just think, a card with Robbie Lawler, Nieky Holzken, and Keenan Cornelius, ALL in one night.
I'm tired as hell, so this may be an absolutely ridiculous and impractical idea, but I can't tell the difference right now, so roll with it. What are your thoughts and opinions on this idea of a change in format, every once in a while?

I'd be interested in grappling competitions and so on, like Metamoris.

I imagine that just like everything else, Zuffa will want those dollars, and might eventually do something like an annual grappling tournament. Try to capture all the ADCC / Metamoris $$. As we've seen from the Reebok deal, they'll go to great lengths for relative peanuts.

The way the NHL is trying to replace the Olympics with its own World Cup of Hockey, the UFC might want to try to lock down the market on the premier grappling (and maybe kickboxing) competitions and have these under the Zuffa banner.

As for fighting itself, I think we're pretty close to the final form of MMA.

I think if done right it would be awesome.

It could also be cool if ufc had more feeder leagues then one day expand into maybe a ufc grapplers league or a striking league for ammys but we are obviously a long way from that

You mean Glory, the UFC and Metamoris doing some sort of cross promotion?

    I'd pay to see that.

Glory puts on a few title fights and contender match-ups(no tournaments). UFC puts on the same, could be awesome. I think the live grappling would be hard to sell but maybe put that on at the end or something, for the hardcore grappling/fight fans to watch.

I'd sit through 8 hours of that.

In terms of the sport, I see the sport of MMA being seen as one single discipline of martial art rather than a combination of many. Fighters are going to be more all-round, and less and less fighters will be specialists of a discipline like you used to see in the past. Idk, that's how I see the sport going. It already is kind of going that way isn't it?

I'm not talking about MMA evolving, as in level of competition. But I agree, we must be nearing the template for perfection, it's only a matter of time before the next Jon Jones shows up. I'm talking about the evolution of the UFC as a product, and wondering what it could turn into one day. More than what we have today, maybe.

The UFC will never do that imo. Cause it would never make money.

Pretty much, yeah. It would all take place in the octagon, so the rules would be slightly different, which is more interesting, in my opinion.

That's what got me thinking about this, only with the addition of grapplers as well.

I'm talking more about the evolution of the UFC as a product and what it may offer in the future. I agree with the points you raised on MMA becoming a style of it's own.

If the names were big enough, who knows? It's a big risk, but if you can secure the biggest names in kickboxing, the Hari's, the Spong's, the Levin's, and the biggest names in Jiu-Jitsu, you're tapping into a larger market than MMA, though not substantially, because many people that watch MMA are already fans of the other combat sports.
    It's a gamble.

UFC was captured at level 30. Not many evolve after level 30, dude.

Hmm, not sure how Kickboxing fans would take too the cage.

The Dynamite card has both a cage and ring, couldn't they just do that?

You're right, us hardcore fans would like it. But the casuals won't want to sit threw a 30 minute grappling/kickboxing match waiting to watch MMA. This would turn-off the general public imo.

They could. I was just thinking of convenience for live viewers.
