I'm a fan of both guys but looking back...what went wrong with Hunt in this fight? Moose beat him easily, rocked him within the first exchange then finished him with the kimura. It was one of the easiest wins in Mousasi's career.

Was Moose that great pre-injury or was Hunt just not himself at the time? Wish Moose looked like his old self...

Mousasi was at his best at that time and place and Hunt was at his lowest.

I think Hunt said he was at a low point in his life and just fighting to get a pay check and not really training.

yah that was a head scratcher for me as well. but then i thought mousasi was really good prior to ufc days.

Hunt lost his motivation after Fedor fight.

And "Dream" Gegard was a fuckin beast

Mousasi is legit as fuck.

You better recognize.

Mousasi is a lot better than his UFC performances would suggest and Hunt was at a low point in his life

Pretty sure hunt didn't even train grappling back then. He also got submitted by Sean McDorkle right after he lost to Mousasi. It was after the loss to McDorkle that he went to ATT and started training all aspects of MMA that he became a real dangerous MMA guy.

Mousasi was at the top of his game and Hunt didn't seem to give a fuck at the time, was just trying to get paid IMO. That and Hunt wasn't even close to as good back then as he is now. Today, Hunt is at the top of his game and Mousasi is the one who doesn't seem to give a fuck and it's a damn shame because he's so much better than what we've been seeing.

I heard Hunt didn't train grappling back then, which is probably why he has a lot of sub losses and hasn't been subbed recently and has amazing TDD, even though the Stipe fight would suggest otherwise.

Oh Im a big Moose fan...definitely know he's legit but the way he drops lately it makes me wonder about him. Seeing that Hunt is a pretty dominant HW makes me wonder how Moose (who is really a MW in stature) beat him with ease.

After Pride was sold Hunt admitted that he stopped training. He used to train hard and stopped. When he started training again he started winning again.

Hunt was a complete can at that point.

He began training seriously and that is why he has had some success, but before UFC he was a guaranteed win for anybody.

I could see Moose beating him in 2016 as well

You suck at picking fights then lol. Hunt would decapitate him. You think a fringe top 10 MW is gonna beat a top 6ish HW?

The Hunt Mousasi beat was the Hunt who lost to McDorkel. Current day Hunt is a different animal.

He beat the same Mark Hunt Mccorkle beat if thats any help.

Hunt was unquestionably at his worst as an MMA fighter.

It's really not a win to gloat about.
