I've been feeling a little sluggish at the gym lately and it's been a while since my last check up so I decided to make an appointment last week. I got a call last night from my doctor and he tells me my blood came back positive for mono. This is a little puzzling to me for a few reasons:
1. From all the research I've done, it is very rare for a person in their 30s to get it. Mostly because something like 98% of the population are exposed to it and develop immunity way before then.
2. Besides my recent gym sessions being flat I have no other adverse symptoms and feel fine. I've had friends in high school miss weeks, sometimes months and even need to be hospitalized when they got it.
3. The only way to get it is through saliva so kissing or sharing utensils. The only person I've done this with in the last 3 years is my wife and she doesn't have it.
It's really confusing me and I'm starting the think the doctor F'd up my test.
Has anyone thats's had it have any similar (lack of) symptoms? Anyone know anyone outside of high school get it?
