Happy with DDP/Khamzat, but I really think Islam and Topuria will get both belts and easy fights, when they could be fighting each other. Also we'll know if Jones Aspinall is announced, I'm sick of the bullshit in between. 7/10.

DDP/Khamzat definitely better than a surprise DDP vs. RDR match-up.

DDP/Khamzat is the best expected news. The curveball I wanted was a Tom fight or Ilia/Islam somehow happening instead

It appears the UFC is treating Islam like everybody else now. Topuria had to vacate for his immediate TS at LW.

And Islam has to do the same. He said he wouldn’t vacate.

The UFC said months ago that if you want to move up for a TS, you have to vacate.

Thank the stars for that. Treat everyone the same. Not different rules for different people.

Now the ONLY person holding up his division is Jones. Defend or vacate. It’s been 6 months since he fought. He is not injured. He should have signed to fight Aspinall by now. What a fucking clown.

Most of these don't have dates and Jones x Aspinall isn't even announced, he just said he'll get to it.

So what are we really talking about here? We have a handful of good fights with dates announced. The UFC is in serious trouble with PPV buys while negotiating a new rights deal, this is tough times.

I'm bummed we're not getting Islam vs Ilia. Would've been the 2nd biggest fight of the year after Jon vs Tom and a potential Fight of the Year on paper.
For Ilia it would be the opportunity to become the new face of the sport. If he beats Oliveira or Tsarukyan it will be huge too but not as huge as the p4p#1.
Otherwise, good fights but they squandered the best one...

Getting a set date for DDP vs Khamzat was the best news in my opinion, not just because of the fight itself but it shows that they have got Khamzat's visa issues sorted out and he can fight in the US now, assuming those rumours were true.

I think the best case scenario after Islam vs JDM would be for Top to go down and KO Volk again, then go up and KO the new 155 champ, then have Islam come down after a 170 defense to fight Top at 155 for Ultimate Ultimate Champion!

One title defense at FW does not earn him a LW TS, even if it’s a vacant belt.
