I think it's 7 figures for Ninja. Shroud has to be up there on the higher end of 6 figures too. Yeah, when you take time off, you lose subs, followers. Even just one day to some extent. And yeah, they tend to have full-time jobs until they make enough online to go full time. I tend to support the ones who are like that and they really need the help to stay ahead and keep doing what they're doing,

It could be a situational thing, it could be a lifestyle, etc. For instance, if you've already got all that at home, but you're on the road or something and you just want NSA action that you know will never get back to you, hiring an escort may be the best option. Or if it's what you want in the moment, or if you're just one of those guys that doesn't want a LTR or isn't ready to settle down yet because he's still young, etc. It's not necessarily an either or thing.

That's dreamy but that's kind of the rub: there's no reality to deal with in fantasy.

In fantasy, some poor dude can believe he's rising through the cockles of some princess's heart. The money he gives the time he gives -- it's all very real to him, and in their own ways deeply meaningful despite the lack of reality. These are things he can control, and he has parsed out his own reward system that someone else is happy to manage for him, especially if she's going to be paid for it (both monetarily, and in terms of attention). He cannot control and thereby cannot abide the reality of companionship -- that everyday won't be coquettish and playful or even well-groomed. He may have to give up more than just time and money -- he may have to put forth serious effort, not to mention dealing with small obstacles and failures of living up to whomever's expectations.

Similarly, I would think that people who are pouring hundreds or thousands of $$ into a stream are doing so because they got money to burn. Now, if a dude is going into the red in hopes of eventually striking up a romance, then the he's a dunce cap and I have no sympathy for him if he burns through his rent money. Sometimes you don't learn your lesson unless it comes in the form of a kick to the teeth.

An article on Salon isn't proof of anything. If you follow back to the study they reference, you'll find this is based on a questionnaire regarding porn stars reported self-esteem, drug use, and perceived quality of life. It's behind a paywall, so I can't see the questions or how they were asked, but all indications point to this being a junky study published in a low impact journal for obvious reasons. You can't draw any real conclusions regarding whether porn stars have maladaptive patterns of behavior/cognition from this.

Something like childhood sexual abuse seems like a pretty clear question to me and do you offer any alternatives? I think you view tends to come back to the old religious value system were women being openly sexual and desiring sex were viewed as somehow abnormal.

Everyone is going to be shaped by there childhood experiences of course, theres a difference between that and a "walking personality disorder". It also seems like an argument that is doing exactly what you were critical of, shifting into the realms of un-disprovable intangibles.

My guess would be that actually in these cases if there are serious mental issues at play there more likely to be brought on by the adult environment these people exist in.
