When I say overhyped I don't necessarily mean overrated, although that may be the case as well. What I mean is, how well do you think their hype matches their talent? In my eyes, neither has shown the kind of "rising star" talent that we've been brainwashed to believe they have. That said they are two of the youngest fighters on the roster, and I'm sure they will grow exponentially. Which leads to another question; do you think the UFC's over promotion of the two could hinder their growth as fighters?

Yes overhyped a bit and that's being nice. Their growth as fighters should be fine provided they surround themselves with the right people.

I don't pay enough attention to Northcutt. But VanZant is not overrated compared to the rest of her division. She can beat at least 50% of the division right now.

Paige always seems to be the underdog on sherdog.

Paige is mildly overhyped. She's mid-tier in her division right now and she's only lost to legit fighters in the UFC. Sage is crazy overhyped, shouldn't be in the UFC.

Paige was/is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more overrated than Sage. At least Sage isn't ranked in the top 10.

Paige easily. She's the one who's on dancing with the stars. Sage only has the UFC behind him.

Sage is not a good fighter. But he already has three UFC wins.

Over cans yes, but there are cans in the UFC. Not like everyone in the UFC is automatically not a can.

Sage has a winning UFC record.

Sage and Paige both need and both have time to develop.

Paige beating a veteran like Herrig the way she did is impressive when you consider how young she is. Both Sage and Paige need a lot of work, but time is on their side. The question is how much they can learn, grow, and improve.
There are some fighters like Jones and Cain who are just freak type of anomalies where they are so good from the beginning that even when they were beating less-than-stellar competition like Gusmao and Stojnic, you knew that there was something special about them.

Sage and Paige never had that type of aura to them. But they don't have to. People like Jones are diamonds in the rough- very impressive in their youth but with a few deficits and then they shore up on those deficits and dominate elite competition.

There are other examples of people who hit substantial stumbling blocks when they were younger in their career only to really improve an become better fighters than expected.

Paige seems like a mediocre to bad fighter (by UFC standards) and really has no potential. The SW division is so weak that outside the top 4-5 ladies no one is relevant.

Sage on the other hand is a solid striker and extremely physically imposing so he has a ton of potential if he can get his spiked head out of his ass and learn how to grapple. I don't have much hope for him though since he still doesn't seem to know how to defend a single leg take down.

Sage is only 20, but he may not have the heart for MMA. He needs to spend a year at Kings MMA in Huntington Beach with their world class grapplers and then make his run.

Sage having 3 UFC wins doesn't mean he has the talent or skill to be in the UFC. The fighters he beat weren't UFC caliber, they had a combined UFC record of 2-7 and were all cut. Whenever Sage takes a step up in competition, even to the slightest degree, he loses. He's only still in the UFC due to his marketability.
