How much does weight truly matter?

It matters a lot on the grappling, thats for sure!.. in the striking not so much. Depending on the difference in weight of course. Cruz could beat many 145 guys and a lot of 155 guys, you're telling me Cruz couldn't beat someone like Gray Maynard at LW. he would embarrass him easily, wouldn't even get touched.

Now youre talking about at a huge skill disparity , not the same thing . How about Tony F or Cerrone ? Size matters , its not the absoute end all be all , but it matters......alot.

Lets all remember that Ronda can beat cain under the right conditions.

For an honest answer, a scrappy dude can still win at 30 lbs under but he will simply be at a disadvantage so its not desirable conditions

Heavier will have more power and if a good heavy wrestler end up on top its hard to stand back up under the weight. At first the smaller guy could escape due to greater agility / scrambling but once the little guy start to tire and slow its hard to escape

was he heavier, maybe Mouse weighed the same fight night but just is shorter
That's a great point. Its hard to say what the weights truly were after they both got rehydrated.

Edit: For what it's worth Johnson says he is around 135 normal weight.
