I wanted to know the various weights of gloves people use to train with, not sparring just pad/bag work. I'm interested to see what boxers use vs muay thai vs mma

I'm using 16 oz for everything right now

14 oz for sparring, thin mma-gloves for pads and bag

16oz for everything.

I'd normally be wearing smaller for bag work and pads, but I've got an injured thumb and tbh I feel that training with heavier gloves might not be such a bad thing.

Just for "bag and pad work":

MT and Boxing,

* 14oz. Dedicated Super Bag Gloves, or

* 16oz. to 18oz. All-Purpose Training Gloves.

For Bag and Pad work I have 16s, 14s and some 10s that arent really full gloves but just bag gloves.

For sparring I have 16s.

I used to do everything with 16s but my dad recommended I do my pad work with soemthign lighter to work on my quickness.

Bag gloves are 10 oz's because I like to perfect technique and feel where my punches are going. Also they save my sparring gloves.

I have two sets of sparring gloves. 14 oz that I always use and 16 oz cleto reyes gloves that I rarely use, but have on hand when I need something heavier.

Boxing

Sparring: 18oz long wrist shevlin gloves, velcro, attached thumb
Bag work: 10oz shevlin super bag gloves

Muaythai and Sanshou

Sparring: 16oz shevlin gloves, velcro, unattached thumb, no grip bar
Bag work: 24oz shevlin long wrist gloves, laces, attached thumb

MMA

Fairtex 4oz mma gloves

Bag: 12-14oz

Sparring (which I rarely do): 16-18oz

10 oz gloves for me... i just use the one set.

OT but what are people's opinions about wearing only wraps when working the double-end-bag?

Ive got 16's for light sparring, and bag technique
14oz bag gloves for speed
2 pairs of 14's for hard sparring.

a pair of 16oz for sparring, shadowboxing, and bag use<really only use these
a pair of 6oz MMA gloves for grappling..actually I haven't used them yet =(
