How many times has Cain Velasquez been injured??? Lets see. It is a lot!!

Discussion in 'UFC Discussion' started by SouthoftheAndes, Dec 26, 2016.

  1. Lets give this a try.

    1) Cain tears his Rotator cuff after destroying Brock Lesnar (on October 23rd, 2010) and was out for over a year.

    2) Cain reinjured his Rotator Cuff after losing to JDS on November 12th, 2011. And later in 2012 a video was released which shows Cain injuring his knee in a warm up practice a week before the JDS fight. Cain's teammate jon fitch later confirms this.

    3) Cain injures his shoulder (torn Labrum), after destroying JDS for the 2nd time on October 19th, 2013. Cain is expected to be out until late 2014.
    http://www.mmafighting.com/2013/12/...cess-but-likely-out-of-action-until-late-2014

    4) Cain injures his knees (tears his meniscus and sprains his MCL), in October of 2014, after having been scheduled to fight Werdum in November of 2014. Cain expected to be out until mid 2015

    http://www.mmafighting.com/2014/10/22/7036227/cain-velasquez-to-undergo-knee-surgery-on-thursday

Cain recovers and returns to defend his belt on June 13th, 2015. Cain gets destroyed losses his belt.

    5) Cain injures his back in late January of 2016, and pulls out of his scheduled rematch with Werdum which was to be on February 6th, 2016.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mma-c...--fabricio-werdum-follows-suit-213707543.html

Cain recovers and destroys Travis Browne on July 9th, 2016

    6) Cain is pulled from his scheduled rematch with Werdum which was set for December 30th, 2016. It is said Cain got pulled because of a lingering back issue.

He's finished. He'll be out for 6 months now and who knows if he'll pass the examination for his next scheduled bout.

  4. So if wikipedia and memory serve me correct and my google searches. Cain has not had a single year since 2009 in which he was not healing/recovering from an injury that either occurred that year or the prior year.

2010- starts off with Cain apparently not being injured and ends with him badly tearing his rotator cuff.

2011- started off with Cain healing from a badly torn rotator cuff and ended with him injuring his knee and re-tearing his rotator cuff.

2012- started off with him healing from an injury he incurred in November of 2011.

2013- started with him having no apparent injuries and then ended with him being injured (injuring his shoulder or other shoulder again).

2014- Cain was out the entire year nursing injuries and then got reinjured after having previously healed from an earlier injury he incurred in late 2013.

2015- Cain starts off the year recovering from knee injuries he injured in late 2014.

2016- Cain injures his back and is healing until the middle of 2016

2017- Cain will be healing his back for the early part of the year.

    Yeah.

Some of those injuries, like the rotator cuf and labrum tears, are just bad luck.

Others like the knee one might happen because he trains like an animal. Thing is, if he didn't train that hard, he wouldn't be as successful.

His cardio and strength comes from training like a freak. Without that, he isn't going to be the best in the world.

But the most important questions is; How many times has Sea Level Cain won a fight? The answer: 100% of the time.

No. Look no further than Fedor who was a HW who beat everyone, always in shape more or less and never got injured.... There's a bunch more, GSP didnt get injured that often, Conor doesn't, Cerrone... list goes on. Cain trains too hard and incorrectly, the whole team is flawed.

Maybe he'll finally switch camps, or better yet, AKA will finally start to put some emphasis on keeping their fighters healthy. You gotta figure that everyone is losing money with all of these pull outs, maybe after all these years they will finally figure that out.

Im kind of feel sorry for him.
Looks like a really cool dude and he is amazing when he is healthy.
    BUT

Im easily amused and nicknames like
    Sea level Cain
    And
Cain Relaxquez are to fun to leave it alone.

Wonder if the Frittatas Bros(helping a "friend") didn't made a call to the NSAC to punish Cain for he being part of the MMMAA...

Everyone is different. Some people just get injured more than others. I'm injury prone, myself.

He held the HW division hostage for years. Cain shouldn't get any more high profile fights until he gets his shit together.

  19. Such a shame but it is true. He seems to be the most injury prone fighter out there.

Injury rates for teams. Listed for fighters who have had more than +5 fights from 2009 to 2016.

Look and behold AKA leads with the most!!!! looking at the results i'd so want to train at Jacksons, Alliance, Kings or Team Alpha Male.

    http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2016/11/...ted-aka-jacksons-blackzilians-team-alpha-male

It is also amazing because Brazilian Top Team and Chute Boxe and Fedor's Red Devils camps I remember hearing were all hardcore, and sometimes brutal. And YET!!!! Fedor and his entire camp was active as fuck and never had lingering issues. Fedor only later damaged his hand. And Shogun didn't blow his knee out and start having knee problems until he left Chute Boxe and was in the UFC.

I also think part of the reason is fighters not being able to juice as much. I strongly believe fighters should be allowed to use certain PED's and have an acceptable range that their testosterone levels can fluctuate between.
