How many of you don't celebrate Christmas?

Not really, i just use it as an excuse to get drunk and eat a lot of food.

just hang out with family for a bit and have a meal. Not a fan of all the commercialism.

Not religious much but the look on my sons face when he opens presents is worth celebrating Christmas 1000x over

And drinking lots of good dark beer of course

Just had a bunch of my friends over to my house having drinks and eating food. Any reason for that is fine with me.

Christmas traditions also come from pagans. According to Catholic religion it's not even the right date anyways for Christ to be born.

Christmas is more about the whole "people getting together" and "humanity helping others" sort of thing than religion. So get a tree, hang mistletoe, kiss your wife, and yell ho ho ho.

It's Christmas Time!!!!

Edit: Oh and Santa would touch Jesus with teh jab and put him out in 1:52 round 1

Unfair advantage, Santa has at least 200lbs on Jesus.

I don't treat that day much differently. I don't give gifts, no one gives me gifts. I don't decorate. I don't go to church. I used to get drunk, but I don't do that anymore.

I used to not answer the phone when my family called to say merry christmas, but I answer for my mom and dad now. When someone says merry christmas, I say thank you.

Other than that it's just a day when shit is closed. I quit when I was 15, and I'm 35 now, so it's been 20 years. It feels great to be done with it.

I hate the consumerism, the religious aspect, the pressure to conform, how families get together even though they hate each other. The tacky decorations, Santa is white, etc... I hate everything about it.

Admittedly I come from a European country with a catholic background and we've always celebrated christmas but it had different food traditions. When we came to North America my mother made it a point to adopt some of the North American customs of Turkey, stuffing, plum pudding, christmas cake, ... We even tried cranberry sauce (though no one liked it on turkey so we just ended up using it for breakfast preserve). I think it's important to try to adopt some of the customs of the country you are in even if they are not native to you.

One custom that is retarded though is gifts for adults. I'm tired of this shit. Charles Barkley said it best, "I like the traditions of christmas, and seeing family but no one over the age of 18 should get a present". If someone really wants to give me something I tell them a charity that they can make a donation to.

kick it with the family and have a little drink, too. its all good we always have a good time.

I enjoy the concept of spending time with loved ones and sharing (gifts). Couldn't care less about the religious context.

Only the damn communists don't celebrate Christmas.

Even though I'm atheist I still do Christmassy stuff with people who want to. I think its the same for most people. Went to a couple Christmas parties with a bunch of Jewish people. Don't really get the point of saying "Happy Holidays" as opposed to Merry Christmas now that I think about it.

I celebrate it because of my wife's family. I go to a Christmas eve party on her mom's side of the family and then on Christmas day on her dad's side.

I don't mind, I celebrate Festivus and air out of my grievances with them all and then beat up my father in law.

Only the damn communists don't celebrate Christmas.

Yup. They also only wear drab green clothing and hang out at Hop Sing's.

And TS the best part about being atheist is to make your own principals and not give a shit what people say. Celebrate with everyone else this time of year but for whatever reason you want. It won't hurt. Accept a gift, give one. People are rarely this generous throughout the year, it would be nice if we were but take advantage of whats here now.

Noted. I like giving just not receiving

It seems that a lot of you do it for children which is to me what this day, in a secular sense, is for. I don't have children and a small family; the youngest of us is 25. As for my girl, I don't feel it necessary to give her a gift today in particular, although I'm getting her flowers, for me, I'm giving cards that I made filled with words of affection on this day because this day means something to them and if it means something to them how could it not mean something to me.

Sam makes a good point. People are rarely this generous other then days like today and I guess that's good but on the flip side of that token I seen people yesterday shopping that aren't generous and are almost mean spirited to the point where I feel disgusted.

Regardless, I hope all of you guys have a good holiday and enjoy your time with your families. Sincerely!

I'm sure it feels great to be alone and miserable whilst everyone else is having fun with their loved ones :icon_lol:

out of interest what race would prefer Santa was? considering the original St. Nick was actually white, I think its logical.

Judging by this post you are very hateful. Ignoring the religious aspect, there are a lot of wonderful things about Christmas and I'm not talking about consumerism and decorations.
pressure to conform? haha, get over yourself mate.

I believe in the importance of family, reconciliation and generosity. I'm sure your family would appreciate it if you spent Christmas with them, so why don't you stop thinking only about yourself and do something nice?

Well I just see Christmas as a more cultural than religious holiday now. Funnily enough, every atheist I know celebrates christmas whereas some christians I know do not.
Agree. I was born a Catholic but no longer attribute Christmas trees, Santa, decorations, etc. with a religious day. For me, it's just about the holiday season.
