Does anyone know which MMA sites are indirectly owned by the UFC?
Sherdog got owned by Dana some years ago, but he doesn't own it
None, I'd say. A lot of the journalists do pieces for the UFC and work with them regularly.
lol what morons, I guess it's one of the things from the class actions. :icon_chee
Is that real or did you shop that?
Fightland at least. Mmajunkie used to be called UFCjunkie.
As real as it gets.
its real, it's in the complaint page 8. I guess they never heard of staying low key :icon_chee
Holy hamburgers! The ego...
Gonna try to reinvent the Roman empire by the time they're through.
Yeah, dude. With the death of Pride, it's not hard to envision the UFC becoming an NFL, MLB, etc. org, if it hasn't already.
I wouldn't mind if it did, I just don't want to see it to a point where we are strapping fighters with iron gauntlets.
I don;t know if they are owned or forced to do what the UFC says. I had a friend who used to be an editor for an MMA Magazine. In order to get interviews with BJ Penn (champ at the time) or any other UFC stars they really had to suck UFC dick or they wouldn't be allowed to interview the athletes and the the ufc would bully them with threats of law suits for really random stuff to prevent them from selling the mag if they didn't bow down.
I was going to join the cast of TUF 1 or 2 (whichever the WW one was) and the contract?
The thing is a fucking novel of fine print.
You essentially are signing your soul over: in and out of the cage and unless you're a mega star, ala Bones, you really can get fucked over.
Anyone who has credentials for UFC events will do anything the UFC says. Just look at Sherdog and Rhondas Sandy Hook video.. Articles removed, threads deleted and users banned on several sites.
I had several team mates who actually made it on the show (later seasons) and said it was the worst mistake of their career. Even they they lost and werent going to be on the tuf finally they still couldnt fight for a long as time. Well after filming was completed.
Wouldn't surprise me if sherdog was.
The amount of controversial threads about dana and other risky topics that get deleted is suspect.
This goes for all big mma sites. They all reley more or less on the UFC and aren't independent.
