The Gambler500 started as a cannonball run type of race. For legality purposes it has evolved into a navigation challenge that covers a roughly 500 mile course.

Originally, you had to spend 500 dollars or less on your vehicle and the gamble was that the vehicle could finish the course. The 500 dollar criteria has been abandoned but cheap vehicles are very much encouraged.

The less capable the vehicle is, the more fun you’ll have. They must be legal though since public roads are used.

You have a starting location and are given a list of gps waypoints to find. After the first day you camp out together and do it again the next day.

Basically, a bunch of people driving pieces of shit through all kinds of terrain in a search for a good time and great memories.

It's like a real life Mad Max movie. Anyone here a gambler?

i gotta a 1999 323i it cost me 1000 bucks. I want in.

As a guy who owned multiple pieces of shit when he was younger, it is not fun trying to drive long distances in one. Especially if it snows.

This thread is cleverly disguised to find out which Sherdoggers are poor degenerates- kinda like that "hotdog" thread .

What’s state are you in? It’s pretty much a nation wide event but there are chapters by state. We took a 1992 Astro van and lifted the back to fit some old 33 inch mud grips.

We’ve replaced the Astro with a 1996 ford e350 short bus for more room to do a camper conversion.

Any and all kind of vehicles are used though. I’ve seen bread trucks, lifted limousines, Subaru’s, you name it.

Agree completely. But everyone helps each other in case of breakdowns. Hard to find a cooler group of people.

They have sponsors like sig sauer and interco tires. They put on car shows for sick children, host clean up parties for trails and camping areas.
