How many grapplers are better than Shields currently for MMA?

I've been saying for 5 years that Shields is the best grappler in mma. A lot of hate ensues just simply because he's boring when that has nothing to do with it. If you say GSP is the goat of mma, then a lot of hate will ensue for the same reason.

Demian Maia for one, he got much better positions, defended and landed more takedowns.

Fabricio Werdum would be very offended by this notion.
As would Rafael dos Anjos, Yuri Alcantara, Frank Mir, and Big Nog.

Jacare is good, but I've seen more impressive BJJ for MMA.
