So DC says he will gladly sit out and wait for his title shot (such a warrior right)

So how long will he sit out?

Jones vs Gus #2 is booked for 30th August

Does this mean DC will happily sit back until 2015? it's only May 2014 now

the earliest DC could get his title shot would be end of year card on 27th of Dec.

Sorry but I hate guys who want to sit back for 6 months of so and wait for a shot

Rashad did it and we see how that worked out for him.

if DC is so tough then take another fight, he's got plenty of time with Jones/Gus fight on 30th Aug.

    What say you?

Cant see him taking another fight, Jones will keep him waiting till February/March next year.

It would probably depend on who they offer him, if it's another easy fight he should take it. If not he'd be smart to wait out and not risk a title shot.

Glover. If he can't get past the last victim, he damn sure isn't ready for the champ.

Good idea. Or another 5 if Glover isn't ready.

They rarely match up someone who's just won with someone who's just lost

how can a fighter be happy to sit around from perhaps May 2014 to Feb 2015

He's not injured, take a fight at HW to keep up the routine

It's only 8 1/2 months, for a fighter that has already fought 5 times in 16 months, it's not that big of a deal. It's only 3 months longer of a sit than Jones will have.

But most times when fighters sit out for a shot, it never ever works out for them.

Jones last 5 fights have been April-September-April-September-April

Jones v Gus 2 is scheduled for August. So assuming Jones wins, he wouldn't be fighting DC until March/April, probably.

So that means DC will be out for at least 6 months, maybe as many as 8-9.

I agree. Dana is stupid for guaranteeing DC a title shot 3 months before the next title fight has even taken place.

Hell, why not guarantee AJ a title shot after his next fight and further clog the fucking division?

IMO DC needs to take another fight or lose his spot as top contender.

Also, if Gus does beat Jones; Jones will probably get an instant-rematch via the unspoken long-time-dominant-champion clause.

So DC would then be waiting an ADDITIONAL three+ months for a title shot.

    Ridiculous.

I'd book DC v Rashad at the year-end show and bill it as a #1 contender's fight.

That or the idea I saw somewhere else where DC and JJ are opposing coaches on TUF and then they fight in April.

Why take another fight when you can wait for the title shot? I say he stays healthy and ready for weight cut till the Jones fight.
