I try to walk 30+min after dinner each night. Even if I was lifting, sparring, or did cardio earlier. I find it's good for the digestion and posture. An "evening constitutional."

I don't know how to measure this, I'm on my feet and moving around most of the day. Spesh right now, from April to September I'm busting ass all over the farm constantly

Guidelines for heart heath is roughly 30 mins a day. It depends what you mean by good exercise and your goals. If you want to use it to lose weight then you probably need to get a HR monitor and stick to zone 2.

You will probably get more bang for your buck if you lifted some weights and did some cardio a few hours later. Something like lifting in the morning then take 30-1 hr walk at night.

Don't know about Android, but iPhone has built in step counter in the Health app. You can view it like a log with steps per each day or graph. No idea if rumbling while driving counts as steps. I have a route I take and if I do that I know I'll have at least several thousand steps.

30 minutes is usually enough for a basic workout.

What kind of knee problems do you have that only allows you to walk not to better exercises?

My knees are not that bad, but I just prefer walking and also light jogging in between.

But thanks for asking.

Oh ok, I was gonna say there's a lot of exercises out there that are much better for knee health but maybe you wouldn't find them as enjoyable as walking

And I'm talking about a brisk walk without stopping, not a leisure walk.

Reason I'm asking, I've been doing an hour walk non stop and I get a pretty good workout from them.

My goal is to get to 2 hours.

Also, I prefer walking because I don't want to fuck up my knees.
3 to 5 miles everyday it isn't raining. 20 to 30 pullups on the monkey bars at the park. My dog lives for the walk and it's better then watching TV after the wife and kid go to bed

What exercise are you referring to? The stationary machines?

Stuff that Challenges your leg more by putting your knee past your toes. But you don't necessarily have to do all the crazy difficult stuff like Ben Patrick does. Like for you since you like walking you could try walking backwards sometimes, especially up hill. Or do some exercises like squats on a slant board. Wall sits, reverse sled pull. Or going reverse on a exercise bike, especially one you can adjust the resistance

Oh I see. I know what you mean now.

Didn't know this Ben Patrick guy, just looked him up.

Very creative exercises indeed.

Carrying your golf bag during an 18 hole round burns about 1200-1400 calories. Using a pull cart goes for about 900

I would say that totally depends on the pace. 4+MPH is a pretty good walking pace which is what i tend to do. 30 minutes after lifting is usually good for me. 2.5mph feels like nothing and you could do that for hours. Also depends if your doing any elevation.

The Fan bike is where its at for cardio that doesnt hurt too much. I love that thing and it whoops your ass.

Doesn't really matter the length as long as you walk like this the whole time

If you can walk for 10 minutes straight while whistling nonstop and rotating your arms like that you're a beast. Take big proper steps too.
