How long can Jones delay the Gus rematch now that he has the "Rehab" excuse?

    Well how long?

We all know that Jones will continue to do his best to avoid or delay the rematch with Gustafsson.
I would guess that Gus would like to fight him in maybe April-May if he wins agains Rumble. But I originally thought that Jones would delay it to at least July-September, which would mean that he succesfully avoided another beating from Gus for a full two years.

But now that he has the "I'm in rehab. I'm going through some difficult times. I must think of my family first and foremost" to fall back on, do you think he will even fight Gus in 2015?

If he has a 90 day rehab (which would be long), and a 3 month camp you're looking at 6 months. Which is only slightly longer than it probably would have been anyway. He only fights twice a year and only once last year.

Most likely he does a 30 day program and his team will feel out how ready he is to get back into a full training camp.

It's clear he will delay it, it's a good strategy.

The ufc should just make Gus vs Rumble for the belt, it's clear Jones will milk this shit and pretend he's getting all the help now and it's going to be a long recovery and go down that route to get people to feel sorry for him.

If he isn't going to be able to fight in the Summer then the ufc better make Gus vs Rumble for the belt

    And Gus beats Rumble

    Stupid thread man.
It's not like he's going to be in rehab for a half year. My guess he will only be like 6 weeks or so in rehab. I don't think he has a very serious problem. I think he goes into rehab more for the PR image.

Doesn't matter. I'm not a fan and hope Gus wins the belt when the time is right. But there are more important things.

    Perspective is important.

I don't see his rehab being as long as to impede Jones from fighting the winner of a fight that is yet to happen. That being said, even if Jones' rehab lasts for only few weeks, I see Gus trolling him and saying that he's ready immediately after the Rumble fight. Also, Isn't Jones now hq'd out of Abq and training full time? That sort of thing can really hurt you if you don't watch out for the intensity, Jones might very well get hurt in training before his next fight.

I really don't think Gus will come unscathed out of the Rumble fight. And even if this happens like you say and Gus says he's immediately ready what does it matter? It's not like he decide when they will fight.

Probably. Who wouldn't milk it? That's what these guys are doing these days, just taking their sweet time since they already have the belt. He'll do rehab and may or may not face a suspension. Or maybe that will be his suspension, just going to rehab and completing it + maybe 30 days or 60 days on top of that. Who knows.

BTW, Gustafsson whips Rumble and then beats Jones (again). Rumble isn't knocking him off his path to the title, you'll see when they fight.

Nope this fight will end more like the Johnson/Nogueira fight.
