How long can a RNC be applied on a person while unconscious before brain damage?

Any Sherbro science guys here? That choke on Joe was scary. The RNC cuts off oxygen to the brain right? Or is it blood? Is there a matter of seconds or minutes before brain damage is caused? Is getting choked unconscious better or worse on the brain that a vicious KO?

Depends on the type of choke, but if it's a blood choke I think even around 1 minute after going unconscious can cause permanent brain damage

Getting choked unconscious is nowhere near as bad as getting knocked out from blunt force trauma. I have been put to sleep from chokes many times. It's not so bad. Luckily my training partners noticed I was out after a few seconds and let go. I don't know how long you would have to hold it to cause serious brain damage.

He was out for a couple seconds. He will be fine. Anything over 10ish seconds is sketchy

To a Sherdogger, about 5 seconds considering how many pre-existing issues to begin with.

What’s it like I just remember time was trippy. Couldn’t believe I was out just a second

It looks bad but it's not. It's not like Hollywood where the killer holds the choke until the victim stops moving and let's go. They would just wake back up in a few moments. You gotta hold a choke for a good bit after they are motionless before they would be in danger.

KO is much worse. Even though the ref was late there, joey was a long wasys away from perma damage. Really just an unfortunate facial expression and camera angle

Every time you get choked unconscious, you pass out even faster next time

IIRC, getting choked out if the choke is released within i reasonable amount of time doesn't do harm to the brain at all!

A couple times I just kept fighting and didn't even realize I went out. My partners had to tell me I went out temporarily.

A couple times I just blacked out and couldn't see but I could hear everything and knew what was happening.

A couple times I woke up and was mildly convulsing for a few seconds and was just trying to suck in air.

Only one time I actually woke up with my coach standing over me. I am guessing I was out the longest that time. It really felt waking up from a night of sleep that time.

I was just stubborn and will always keep trying to defend until the very last second. Thankfully, my defense has improved and I haven't gone to sleep for a few years. I also have less ego now and will probably tap sooner in the training room these days. It's kinda stupid to let yourself go out in practice. (Competition is different story) Sometimes it's better to just tap and nobody notices. It's way more embarrassing for everyone to see you went unconscious.

What’s it like for new guys in a gym. I could use to get my ass kicked

Shocked the ref didn't stop it once the arm went limp
