How is Bisping vs. Hendo more acceptable than Lawler vs. Woodley?

I spent several weeks before UFC 199 seeing all sort of fans vent their indignation about Woodley getting an "undeserved" title shot. Never mind that Condit got his after an injury layoff and a win over the ghost of Thiago Alves.

However, it's apparently kosher for Hendo, who hasn't beaten an elite MW since he fought Bisping at UFC 100 seven years ago, to get a title fight in the hopes that he can win the belt and plunge the MW division into total chaos by immediately vacating it and retiring afterwards?

Can somebody clue me in as to how this makes any fucking sense whatsoever?

because people want to actually see Hendo vs. Bisping?...the other, meh

I'm a Hendo fan but he isn't even ranked in the top 10. I don't see how he can even be considered as the next challenger.

Hendo's a former champ Pride champ, who's a fan favorite.

Woodley has been so inactive, that he seems irrelevant. Thompson and Carlos are more deserving.

It's not more acceptable.

It is more interesting, though. If you're gonna do a bullshit title shot, at least make it interesting.

Of course Hendo fighting for the title atm doesnt make much sense.
But he is a legend and he allready has a win over Bisping ... if theres anyone who deserves "special treatment" , that Man is Hendo ... plus it would be a fun match up

Because ww has actual, real, perfectly viable contenders and mw doesn't.

It doesn't, they just want to see that beautiful H-bomb land on Bisping again.

(Not saying it would, he's ancient and Bisping is on a roll, but I assume that is the appeal of it. It's the only thing I find appealing about the matchup. Would rather see him fight Jacare.)

Dan Henderson is a legend of the sport, one of the top 3 American MMA fighters of all time, a huge fan favorite, and has a win over bisping.

Woodley is obviously less deserving than multiple people who are more exciting and active. He is also two decades younger than Dan and is way more inactive so he of course has a lesser fan base.

The reasons are pretty obvious.

demonstrably false argument and you end it with a "/thread". lol

The top 3 contenders all have losses within the last six months. Jacare is the only person who would legit get boned really, and in this circumstance with such a legend like Dan I think many people think in this rare instance it would be acceptable.

you do understand that Jacare's existence makes the post I was responding to false, right. He said MW had no viable contenders, and you already found one.

Then fucking demonstrate it instead of talking out your ass.

everyone at mw either just lost, is injured, or suspended for doping. WW has Wonderboy who's on a good run and just destroyed the last champ and maia who's on a string of increasingly impressive victories. Literally back to back contenders lined up not getting a shot.

I'm just dying to see how you could argue anyone at mw is even half as deserving of a shot as those two at Ww.

they don't have to be as deserving. Tyron Woodley is 100x more deserving a title shot at WW than Dan at MW. Weidman, Rockhold, Jacare, Romero, are all more deserving than Dan Henderson. Whittaker is on a 5 win streak and comes from wins against ranked MW fighters. Those are all "real, perfectly viable contenders". Dan Henderson is the one that isn't.

1. Hendo's a legend.

2. Hendo and Bisping have bad blood.

3. Hendo just came off a huge upset over Lombard.

4. Nobody cares about Woodley.

5. Woodley lost to Rory handily, then beat DHK and Kelvin Gastelum to "earn" his shot, then sat out for a year and a half instead of

6. WW has 5 fighters (Rory, Condit, Wonderboy, Magny, Maia) more deserving of a shot than Woodley. MW only has 1 (Jacare).

Admittedly, some of these explanations are unfair, but some of them are decent points. In a world where everything is puppy dogs and rainbows, Thompson, Maia, Rory, or Condit fight for the WW belt and Jacare fights for the MW title. That's not the case, though.

You think that thread is going to end with that factually bereft statement that you just made?

I beg to differ.
