He's been doing BJJ for many years. Long before he announced he was fighting. His bjj might actually be better than Gall's.

At first i thought you wrote, he's not taking BJ's he's giving themHe is not taking BJJ lessons, he is giving them at Rufusports
I hear Rafael Mendes went to a CM Punk seminar. He is not taking BJJ lessons, he is giving them at Rufusports
If he cannot beat Gall with everything at his disposal he should never show his face again anywhere. They are hand gifting Punk a can if there ever was one in the modern UFC.
And Brock is not a legendary wrestler LOL. He is just a freak. Kurt Angle used to take him down at will when they worked out on their own.
So was Chuck Liddell... as a teenager.Punk has never had any real wrestling experience. White belt in kenpo and BJJ. That is it.
Cm punks only real downside is if he doesn't fight. Contrary to most I don't think the UFC wants punk to win. Best case scenario for all involved would be punk loses a clean 29/28 UD
TS, I always got respect for posters that think above themselves, and word shit accurately. You were spot on your assessment and I am really wondering the same. Good thread, buddy!I train MMA recreationally..I cant begin to explain to tell you how much respect I have for REAL fighters. I train BJJ as well and the purple belts destroy my life easily. I'm considered to be in great shape in my class, I have great power, my coach says I am very impressive for a noob at BJJ. I have 4 years of boxing experience and let me tell you...the few purple belts easily nuke my life within seconds.
How in God's name will CM punk beat Gall? I just dont see it...am I missing something here? I am not a hater at all..I like CM Punk but this is not a sport you just adopt and conquer in. Brock was a legend at wrestling and thats the best sport to have a base in to do well in the UFC.
EDIT: Thread title meant to say how can a noob beat a purple belt in an MMA fight.
Beat case scenario is that we don't have our first death in the octagon when Gall gets murderer.
Sounds like he might be afraid to stand and wrestle! He's bluffing you into starting in his guard, rather than have you throw him into side control.I've never trained and I've tried (I stress tried) to roll with my brother in law who is a purple belt in BJJ among other diciplines a few times. It seems like a good idea after I've had a few drinks.
He literally says, "do you want to start on the ground or do you want me to throw you on the ground?"
