How I see Aldo/Mcgregor going

This is a pretty solid analysis TS. Aldo is a pure mix martial artist. Amazing everywhere and at everything with zero obvious flaws. McGregor is a specialist. He does one thing and he does it better than anyone else in the division but he has flaws everywhere else. It's inpossible to say who's going to come out ahead but imo Aldo should be the rightful favorite based on skill set, experience, and well rounded-ness.

Also, has anyone else noticed the trend to most of Conor's fights, he KO's people when they are backed up against the cage, Aldo should circle out or else Conor could do to him what he did to Brandao, Siver, and Mendes (Which all crumbled in the same exact fashion)

Yep, it's because when you walk forward you get caught too .

For someone to beat him they need to keep it a smart fight, but still be aggressive to keep him back.

As soon as the sheen comes off McGregor, guys will take advantage of that tkd stance which always has his chin up -out- and exposed, and ko him.

Because Chad tried a bad submission, while being out of shape. inb4 bodyshots

Chad had a guillotine almost in and Conor rolled.

In b4 if he had a full camp he wouldn't have felt the body shots.

Good breakdown. Also so pumped for this fight. Don't even care who wins.

I agree for the most part, and I also like both guys and don't particular mind either one of them being champion. Aldo could win just by getting his hands on him and taking him down. Excuse or not, short-camp Mendes proved how helpless Conor can look in bottom position. Since Aldo has way more tools than to rely on wrestling, well, it's pretty easy to determine that the person with more weapons in his arsenal stands the better chance.

Aldo's got that fast twitch muscle which is pretty unparalleled in MMA from what I've seen. If Conor doesn't land that big hit and finish him within the first few rounds, I think Aldo runs away with this pretty easily.

Conor has more power why? Because he takes more risks and is more accurate?

Aldo is "clearly faster" why? Because he takes less risks and relies more on the counter (Conor is great at countering as well)?

Pretty bad thread man.

People who think Aldo can't kick against a southpaw are retarded and/or have never trained.

He can, just easier to hurt your foot and easier for your opponent to check. If you have fought or sparred against an opposite stance you'd know that.

Not a McGregor fan at all but think he'll win fairly easily unless Aldo somehow implements the stick and move strategy to a decision. Don't think for a second that he'll be able to though.

Conor seems to be a true fighter and will either make Aldo finish him or walk him down and beat him up. There will be no middle ground. If the roles were reversed I can see Aldo trying it but not McGregor. He has all the intangibles that a fighter needs. He'll wear Jose down for a late finish or knock him out early.

I also suspect that Aldo might have been treating himself to horsemeat side dishes. Might explain him pulling out of fights, Not necessarily the Conor fight though. X-ray looked legit to me.

Just hoping for a good fight.

you have to be a fool to even question the fact Aldo is faster than mcgregor, the way he pops his shoulders make his strikes quick, not to mention he can stay plodded and still lob some crazy fast punches. And Conor stays flat in that wide stance which gives him way more more leverage to his punches making his punches a lot more powerful.

Aldo is faster but Conor hits much harder. The way McGregor pressures, Aldo cant just stick and run. KO/TKO in before the 4th for Conor. Jose's time is up...he had a great run but, its over.

I dont think the leg kicks will work as much as some think. In addition to the technical difficulties associated with leg kicking a south paw from orthodox, Conor just puts way to much pressure on fighters and completely rewires their brain. Max Holloway just put the most epic of stand up beatings on Swanson, the person who many considered the finest striker @ 145, and Conor absolutely fried his brain, thought pattern and output. for example, there are a ton of amateurs who look great hitting pads, but what separates a great pro from amateur is that they look great when the pads are hitting back.

The biggest issue: We have seen Conor mostly always being a hammer but became a nail against Chad for a while and we saw him rally back, with a confidence and conviction that has really never been seen in the UFC before. We have never really witnessed Jose really be a nail, outside of brief moments in the Chad fight and he was constantly looking at the ref for a way out. His mental game appears to be very weak while the beating is being put on him, and like his teammate Barao, I expect him to completely wither. his brain to start shutting down and to get cornered in to that straight left on Conor's.

So far, if you want to know how the fight will likely turn out, just listen to what Conor says. I didn't buy the hype for a long time but the guy is incredibly cerebral in his approach and has an eye for these things. I'm not so much talking about the round in which he picks the KO (which has been impressive) but the method in which the fight ends. Just a he said he would gas Chad and then put him away, he said Jose will turn into a grappler after the first exchange, experience pressure and precision like never before and look for a way out.

I've always felt Jose was going to win every fight, from the Brown fight up til now, but something feels very, very different in this fight. Cecil the Lion is dead, the old king of the jungle has been murdered, had his head removed and has since replaced by some new king in this, the year of our lord 2015.

Conor has the advantage everywhere, except Aldo might be slightly better at wrestling/BJJ.

As an aldo fan, this is one solid breakdown. You obviously arent going to please them all tho..

I have aldo winning by decision or submission... aldo is the most diverse fighter in mma today.. he can take conor down and work him on the ground, or keep it standing and hold his own..people just seem to exaggerate conors stand up while talking down aldos.. people say that it will be hard for aldo to get his lowkick going.. i completely disagree; if conor tries to plant his lead foot, aldo will start eating up that lead leg...

also, just how conor has that left cross over aldo. Jose has the right cross over conor.. conventional wisdom is that when a southpaw is paired up with an orthadox, the southpaw is susceptible to the right while the righty is suscceptible to the left...

I must admit that conor has a realistic chance at winning with his left, he has great power and solid timing... that being said, aldo has an impeccable jab, and a solid 1 2. Dropped hominick multiples times with it... also dropped chad with the 1 2 at the end of the first round..

Aldo is also a high level bjj blackbelt.. has submitted high level bjj in pure jiu jitsu compeition.. people argue when was the last time aldo subbed someone?
he hasnt subbed someone in years simply because he doesnt go there much. When he does tho, you see the brilliance... he mounted both lamas and mendes... if that isnt eyecatching, idk what is...

I could see aldo taking mcgregor down because conor showed massive holes in his fight vs mendes... im sure aldo is smart enough to capitalize on that, or at least mix it up..

All in all, i could truly see aldo winning anywhere the fight takes place... ground, standing, everywhere... conors avenue to victory is that vicious left hand... he could also mix in some solid body kicks...

Like i said, i have aldo by sub or dec... actually looking into putting money on aldo.... if anyone disagrees, i welcome your thoughts and a debate... i simply wont respond to bashers and shit talkers tho...

The left is going to land and Jose is going down. When was the last time Aldo's leg kick changed a fight?

Not only this, the reach advantage, the south paw stance (Aldo likes to kick on the outside, so in this case he will have to land inside leg kicks)...this is a bad matchup for aldo, since he's had some trouble with southpaws in the past, but he never faced a striker better than himself, which now is the case. Either Aldo tries to go full grappling or he is going to sleep.

No way this fight will go to decision. Conor finishes Aldo by overwelming him or Aldo catches Conor with a counter and finsishes him on top by ground and pound.

Conors a southpaw and will Shut down aldos kicking game with his stance and have him backpedalling all fight he will throw constant kicks, high kickk, teeps to the knee and body and spinning back kicks.

I agree aldos gameplan will involve takdowns and top control but, conor has a tore mcl and didnt train wrestling for months and went up against the best wrestler in his divison.Stopped several takedowns and got up from every takedown.

Lol@ Aldo's kicks getting shut down.

Lol@ McGregor never checking a kick thrown at him.
