Every now and then we have to place him against Islam, Jones and the greats.

What could he have accomplished if he hadn't retired?

He has 1 notable win out of 2 wins (Howard in ‘94). And 3 losses.

What a bizarre thread.

Strange you have this obsession with Jennum.

He will go down in history as a former UFC tournament champion, something Ken Shamrock never accomplished since this was his tournament to lose but he withdrew.

His status, well beyond his actual skill level earned him a shot at legit champs like Marco Ruas in Vale Tudo 1. The result was not pretty.

ive grown to respect Ken, but man he really did throw away several big oppurtunities in this period.

The fact the fight with Tank never happened is a travesty.

Royce should have an official loss for UFC 3. He came to the cage with the Gracie gang and literally threw in the towel when Harold Howard was waiting to fight him. That's a forfeit and a loss, though Sherdog, Wikipedia, etc. don't even list it as a loss.

It absolutley should be a loss.

Guess he politicked to get it removed.

If you want to do a thread like this, you gotta make it entertaining bro.

You cant just do this "how about them Mets???" and walk off shit. Destined for the wasteland.
Yet somehow this thread has lasted longer than legitimate ones. The mods are absolute shit.

Jennum was actually a well rounded fighter for the time period, but i think the lack of weight classes and the fact he most likely didnt use roids hurt him more than anything

Like the drunk guy at the bar who walks off to take a piss as you deliberate whether to reply or not.

Yep, and for a guy who trained at a "ninja" school in the mid-90s, he had pretty good grappling. He fought a decent boxer (Melton Bowen) who was in his prime, bigger (jacked and probably juiced ~230 pounds). Jennum easily avoided his punches, tossed him to the ground and had the first arm bar win in the UFC. To this day, people claim a good boxer in their prime might KO some UFC fighters before they were taken down. While there's a very small chance, I always use this fight as a counterexample.

People love to trash the early fighters who were pioneers and had nothing like modern MMA training. Jennum was a cop who trained part-time. Kudos to the Robert Bussey Ninja Academy for teaching grappling when it was rare--and during a time when the Gracies refused to teach any potential opponents.

And yes, he was small. He have up a lot of size against fighters like Tank. Even Marco Ruas was at least 1 weight class larger. Ruas had also been doing Vale Tudo matches in Brazil for over 10 years before he came to the UFC.
