We have yet to see someone come in against bones jones and utilize leg kicks as there game plan. How good do you think it would work if someone came in and just targeted the legs to set things up? I don't remember a jones fight where his opponent targeted leg kicks. Do you think it would work or be a good game plan? Kind of like forrest did to rampage. Jones is one of my favorite fighters and I feel he's unbeatable but I just wanna kno what you think.

With his long arms he can catch a leg kick and take his opponent down as he did to Shogun.

Again with the toothpick leg theory?

You try and go for a leg and he can hit your jaw from the same distance or take you down even easier.

You'd have to have the world's best kick for this to even work.

Not going to work he will just grab the leg and trip the fighter.

From there he will just Elbow the face into a bloody mess, Jone's elbow is to pointy.

for an outside leg kick, I agree.

Inside leg kicks are hard to catch. Rampage connected a good one on Jones, but didn't follow it with punches.

In one of Jack Slack's articles he suggests inside leg kicks followed by punches could work on Jones and I agree.

pretty sure the trainers have thought of this too - but as people have mentioned, he's just going to blast you or take you down

very bad idea. Would most likely lead to an easy takedown for Jones. They would really have to set the leg kicks up well to have a chance at it working.

an inside leg kick and than a straight right would definitely catch jones off guard ahah

You get put on your back and quickly.

Problem is there aren't competent leg kickers at the top of the LHW division, with the exception of Jones himself. Shogun does not utilize kicks following knee injuries, one of which he suffered in the fight immediately preceding his fight with Jones.

i think a better strategy would be to go out there and hit him in the face really hard until he is KOED and then win the fight.

It's already been mentioned but the inside leg kick is the low kick of choice against Bones. He puts a lot of his weight on his front leg which most MMA fighters don't do. An inside leg kick is very hard to catch.

Well you saw what happened to his toe when he wasn't even being attacked.

well that level it his opponent needed to be abaut same size as Jones or very great TDD. otherwise he found himself in his back.

Iirc Jones said that Shogun made his leg hurt for three days after their fight. I would be hard pressed to think of a LHW who could out-leg strike Rua.

And he still got freaking demolished. It's a great theory but outside of Machida I don't have a lot of hope for LHW to stop Jones.

Killing the king series Jack says something about inside leg kicks.

Sonnen already exposed Jones' weakness: his Aquilles' Toe.
