goin back and looking at his last 4 years of fights

Anthony Pettis
- he destroyed pettis on the feet and statistically beat him

Nate Diaz
- again, out scored Diaz everywhere, landed more, outstruck him soundly

Benson Henderson
- this one is weird because the fight looked pretty even until the KO, in fact Benson mightve been getting the better of him, but since he KOd him, hes a better striker

Jason High
- Dominated the striking

Khabib Nurmagomedov
- The only fight where RDA was outstruck pretty badly. Khabib outlanded RDA on the feet almost double, and made him look bad by landing flying knees on RDA etc.. and on the ground it was even more dominant for Khabib... Khabib is just too good.

Donald Cerrone
- Again, very close strking but RDA edged him everwhere.

Evan Dunham
Mark Bocek
Anthony Njokuani
Kamal Shalarus
- Same story, RDA dominates everywhere even on the feet.

So the weird thing here is Pettis is a great striker and RDA dominated him, but 11 months earlier, Khabib outstruck RDA almost double (standing strikes)...

its very confusing

just how good is RDA's standup????

amazing. Sityondtong student. Rare level of training being in Thailand with Master Yodtong

Also, those of you who don't know shit about striking need to stop with this "SO AND SO OUTSTRUCK SO AND SO BASED ON STATS". It's really really stupid.

It's pretty crazy he out struck the WEC elite trio of Pettis/Bendo/Cerrone. Dropped Cerrone with a right hook iirc.

I've always liked RDA but I'll be honest- I did not imagine we'd ever see him out striking like half of those guys he out struck

RIP Master Yodtong :(

why did he look so bad against Khabib on the feet when the fight was just couple months before those and even after the Cerrone fight?

awesome AV

Long before Kings he worked with Kru Toy from sityodtong. He was pretty sharp but learned to put it together under Cordeiro

I don't know but there is something very fishy about RDA. The guy that got stopped by Clay, lost to Griffin, got his head knock out the cage by Stephens and lost to Gleison Tibau then all of a sudden he smashes anyone not named KHABIB.

lost to Tyson Griffin in a striking battle, a close one btw, when was on a roll.
jaw broken from a crazy punch by clay, pressure on jaw, tapped to pain
knocked out by stephens when he was a part timer and it was his first UFC fight
Gleison Tibau has been around forever.

Is it really hard for some of you to fathom that some people just get better and train hard?

I don't remember Khabib outstriking him. Not much happened on the feet in that fight, but Dos Anjos wasn't looking bad at all during stand up portions of the fight.
I kinda started to consider him a possible contender after Bocek fight (A lot of people started calling him a dark horse of LW after that time). He then got a lucky decision against Dunham-In fact he either gotten outstruck or it was very even and people jumped off a relatively small bandwagon. I still favored him over Cerrone, because I found cowboy to be quite overrated and was not surprised that he won. I was fairly surprised that he finished Benson, I expected Hendersons' standard split decision fest, but I definitely gave him a real chance vs pettis. What I like about his striking is that it's very proactive, he doesn't fight down to the level of opposition or waits to land big counters. He usually manages to be effective regardless of the style of opponent, unlike somebody like pettis, who sometimes spends rounds without landing anything meaningful.

No of course not, but I just don't buy into that bs that he trained harder and got better.

Looks like the threat of being taken down dictates his hand position. Thus someone with good take downs get him to strike less and keep his hands lower.

Dude trains super hard & just dedicates himself to his craft. Not many privileged first world mcdonalds eating fat f*cks on sherdog understand this simple concept

I just dont' understand why so many fans don't understand.
Dude was a part time fighter...dominated Stephens for 2 rounds, got Ko'd
-Goes to Thailand to train with the GOAT
Comes back with great striking. Loses narrow decision.
Keeps grinding and climbing and knocking off contenders
Loses to Tibau
-Switches camps, Shows more ferocity and technique
Loses to Khabib
Gets a better diet and training regimen together. Spends more time in the states, changes his camp structure.
-Wins the belt.

I just don't know why it's such a mystery.

I think his 3 big tests wins aren't really impressive:

Pettis win - suspect
Benson win - seemed like a flukish KO, somewhat bad stoppage as benson was recovered
Diaz win - I think it was pretty clear Diaz didn't give a shit about fighting during this time; he came in overweight and was pretty vocal about his interest in fighting

I can't find myself being impressed by RDA. Can't put my finger on exactly why. Nothing about him strikes me as really "impressive".

Suspect? Says who?

We get it you don't watch his fights. He has literally improved fight after fight year after year.

You can tell he's improved through hard work.

First it was his kicks he really improved, then his hands and all while getting in better and better shape.

This guy should get tons of love for putting in the time to develop
