How good is Adesanya though?

Adesanya's KO over Poatan is a lot more impressive now in retrospect. He was piecing him up in the first fight too before the finish. Never was knocked down by Poatan's shots (really good chin) and is seemingly the only guy that can actually stand and trade with him. Anybody else think a completely re-motivated Adesanya comes back and wins the MW strap?

"piecing him up in the first fight...."???

If it wasn't a fluke than Izzy would be calling out Alex not DDP.

IMO it was really telling when you see how upset Izzy was when Alex stopped Jiri last weekend... if Izzy wanted any of that smoke he would have been rooting for Alex to win, so he could have a chance at double champ status himself.

He won the first kickboxing match by everybody's view...he gave him a standing 8 count in their 2nd..he almost finished him in their first mma fight and was winning on the scorecards going into the 5th

They are a lot more evenly matched then people admit. Alex gives Izzy his respect

He was never piecing up Alex lol and another punch Izzy would’ve been dead sleep. The only significant moment of Izzy’s is that fluke ko in the mma rematch.
Alex was saved by the bell in round 1 of their first UFC fight. ..or did you conveniently forget that?

Tbh poatan was way more dominant in his second fight against adesanya and more impressive

Izzy is a brilliant fighter but horrible to listen to. I imagine it’s what it takes for a lot of these guys

I rewatched the UFC 281 card with Adesanya v Pereira 1. If Pereira is the greatest striker in the world then Adesanya is the only person in MMA to take it to Pereira on the feet (Jan took it Pereira on the ground) and made Pereira have to actually pull a win out of the fire. That was the greatest striking display of 2022. Everything Hill, Jiri, Strickland failed to do Izzy was levels above them when it came to making reads on Pereira. To this day I regard Adesanya as the second greatest MW of all time and there's no one else that comes to that spot (yet).

Losing to Jan was weird but not this shocking thing. Losing to Pereira who literally had to go through 4.5 rounds of hell and escaping an early finish wasn't anything to dock Izzy for. But the Strickland fight is the most anomalous loss I have ever seen. Depending on what I see in August then there will be a lot of opinions either being validating for or against Strickland.

Izzy always had close fights and was arguably winning every fight up to the KO in the second kickboxing fight and the TKO in the UFC. Then he scored a clean KO over Poatan.
The Izzy haters will always be here, but the man is a legend of combat sports. I would watch those two fight again and again.
I think he was losing the fight where he was able to KO Poatan otherwise agreed.
He is damn good and I could watch these 2 fight every day.
That's why it's shocking to me that Izzy got dropped vs Sean of all people and outstruck.

LOL in retrospect? LOL. Man, it was impressive when it happened and its impressive now that everyone is sucking AP's dick.

It’s literally what happened. Sorry you smoked your brain until a shriveled little pea.
You recovered from the Strickland fight yet, Izzy?
Can't have been nice getting pieced up by such a basic striker.

Lol.

I dunno wtf happened with the Strickland fight but yeah, overall Izzy is obviously one of the most technically skilled strikers in MMA history. Tall rangey elusive guy and has a varied striking offence. Not always the most exciting to watch as he tends to be safety first, but in terms of pure effectiveness its very hard to outstrike him.

I think you know Izzy owns Alex's soul thats why you have gone into delusion level of cope

A fluke? Izzy was drilling that sequence for weeks

Izzy lands a defensive blind haymaker with his eyes closed which just happens to KOs Alex, while he's getting tuned up real good on the fence while losing the fight in a similar manner to the first one...

Looked a bit scripted, with the UFC now merging with WWE, it is possible

Lmao Adesanya fans posing as Poatan fans coming up with the lamest deluded excuses to make Alex look like a charity case

Hes the LHW champ, a guy who fights for a living. His ego can take the lick that Izzy owns his soul and set him up.

A fluke? lmao

Izzy was also an elite kickboxer but he’s still not on the level of Alex. He caught alex off guard with a perfect counter shot when he thought Izzy was hurt and played possum, the weight cut weakened his chin too. Still Izzy is the only one who has a small chance of striking with him

"not on the level of Alex"

You forget all their fights are on youtube, anyone can go and see the details of how they played out

Alex was 3-0 up but still the underdog for 287. How is that possible?

Cold bitter fact for you my deluded friend, Izzy has lit Alex up the last 3 times they fought, finding his chin first each time.
The only reason Alex even remained in those fights was a friendly local ref using "his discretion to interpret the rules" with a standing 8 count
and then the luck of the bell

And the 4th fight... without that - what happened to Alex?
