How good could butterbean have actually been?

Butterbean?
Main disatvantage: very predictable and not mobile enough.
Main advantage: despite really predicatble, he banged some punches incredibly hard even for his size guy.
More mobile version of him with tutelage from childhood : of course better achievments later in adults, of course.

As far as I know he had no formal training as a kid or anything, just started doing tough man competitions in his mid-late 20s and then his boxing career went from there. How high do you think his ceiling could have been assuming he started training at a young age? He had a pretty good chin and power
there is a reason he would only do 4 round fights, that's the talent level he was at.

Never knew he was on Top Rank. That's fucking cool. Bet the crowd loved it

Oh yeah, he had the freak show appeal of being a big fat bald guy wearing Star and Stripes trunks, but then would KO his opponent.

The entire cards were great. I spent many nights in the 90s staying up drinking with friends, watching them from beginning to end. I mean, just look at this card:

7th June 1996 - Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas

Oscar de La Hoya vs Julio Cesar Chavez
Erik Morales vs Hector Acero Sanchez
George Scott vs Peter Taliaferro
Johnny Tapia vs Ivan Alvarez
Diego Corrales vs Coro Canales
Robert Cobos vs Raul Hernandez
Eric Esch vs George Clarke
