I have not heard anything about or from her in some time now.

She had a major injury, but still was wanting to fight Miesha by Feb 22. She was disappointed, but understood that a title couldn't be held up for any fighter and she'd still have rights to a title shot no matter who was holding onto the belt.

She just lost her husband a few weeks ago...I think her competing is the last thing on her mind at the moment.

IDK how far she is with her injury recovery, but I think it will take a while untill she's ready to fight again even if she's healthy. It takes a long time to get over the loss of a loved one.

Well her husband killed himself not long ago, so really I don't think her knee recovery is really what is the main focus right now.

Ah, yeah I realized that, but not to be insensitive- didn't they separate months prior?

It's been said here and there. Even if they were look at how she took it. It makes no difference. She still loved the man and he's gone.

I didn't see how she took it, bad I'm presuming by your statement.

Her daughter if she was from him has to be heart broken very likely and yea, very tough time, but other than that logistically speaking I wonder if she is post recovery and is able to train and possibly spar as of now.

Late yesterday evening, I learned that my husband and soul mate of seven years, Mauricio Zingano, has passed away.

My life has changed irrevocably. I am shocked and deeply saddened. Thankfully, my family and friends are coming together to provide the support I need. I am grateful for them, as I know there are many difficult days ahead.

I also very much appreciate the outpour of support from the jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts world. My husband was well known and respected in this close-knit community and I know he would appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers, as do I.

At this time, I respectfully ask everyone to give me privacy as I gather with relatives and friends. Again, I give thanks to all for the kind words and support.

Sincerely,
Cat Zingano

I see from the report it has been about 8 1/2 months since her injury.

Hopefully for her injured leg sake she is past the recovery and in training possibly full bore or close to it considering otherwise.

I pray that her family is handling the loss considerably well & wish she returned in the near future, as she was one of the best. :)

She's an extremely tough soul. Sorry for her and her families loss as I couldn't imagine the situation.

That being said, she's a incredible fighter and I would love to see her come back sometime in the future.

She's one of the few that I can see taking the belt from Rousey and she deserves her shot.

I would hope this was not the end of her UFC goal which is the attainment of the belt, but I would go out on a limb and say we will see her by the summer fighting if not for the title a match to get her feet wet again in the cage/fighting game.

Wouldn't you be upset if your wife/ex-girlfriend died while you were still close? Same thing applies here.

Also, look at how the loss of a loved one affected Vitor Belfort in 2004. It's hard to be mentally 100% when you're sad/missing someone.

It'll be interesting to see how Samman does, on his return to the cage.

of course, I was- as we all do on Sherdog- not because we are heartless thinking strictly of fighting in the entertainment world we call MMA. I was coming from a logistical point and am in that way having to be detached or I would not have asked the question hopefully we are all thinking.

by the way I love that signature name. lol

I think a GOAT Shemale thread ought to be started in honor of the GOAT of female with a little something else to go along. ;)

Agreed.. That's not something you just "get over"..

Love your av.

It would be hard to say as she was getting a very new type of treatment. Where they take your fat then turn it to stem cells and put it in the damaged area
