I honestly think there will be more grappling, clinch work, and dirty boxing than wrestling. I really think Bones wants to keep this fight standing because he obviously has the advantage there. This noise about how he is going to out wrestle and keep DC on the ground is Bones trying to play mind games and trick DC since wrestling is so personal to Cormier.

I want Jones to carry DC weight and get pummelled in the process. You can bet the house Jones gets taken down and humbled.

    Terrible list of options.

It goes from Cormier slamming Jones all over the octagon to him maybe getting a few takedowns to him getting no takedowns at all.

I have no doubt Cormier will takedown Jones repeatedly, it won't be easy. I don't think we'll see anybody slammed.

I'll be extremely impressed if he throws Jones like a child Hendo style

The only thing hesitating is the Mir fight, but Jones will be lighter. Did he try to take down Mir?

Cormier will be slamming Jones like he did Barnett.

That said, Jones will still use fence grabs, eye pokes, groin shots and spitting out the mouthpiece if he gets in too much trouble.

I also think Jones will get up the first few times. DC has to land him into Side Control.

We might even see a German Suplex from Jones. Did everyone forget Jones can also wrestle pretty good and pull off some nice moves?

I think Rashad Evans has the record for most takedowns in lhw history but he didn't take Hendo down and we all know what Cormier did to Hendo.

I think he mainly clinched with him

Edit he did try to get Mir down in the third but was not able to

He mostly pressed Mir against the fence, although he did dump Frank on his ass once without following him to the ground.

I struggle to think DC won't hit a few takedowns, however I feel Jones will be able to keep him at range. For me it comes down to how well DC keeps the pace through five...if he slows its Jones for the taking

Cormier won't be able to telegraph takedowns.
He will set up his takedowns and get over 50% at that time IMO.
It's his handspeed with the threat of the takedown that is his real weapon.

I guess that makes sense with Mir's ground threat.
