Many of Khabib's fights end with his opponent trapped on the ground between him and the fence, and often the final sequence of a Khabib fight starts against the cage.

Would his style be any less effective in a boxing or sumo style ring or environment with different boundaries?

He has 16 finishes before he entered the UFC. He wasnt figthing in cages at the time.

Well he did shoot on Conor in the middle of the cage.

And most those 16 fighters don’t even have Wikipedia pages and are utter doggysand cans…he has fought like 3-4 legit fighters in his whole career!

I would love MMA without any direct enclosure. It would bring in such an interest new aspect and dimension to the sport. But I'd also keep a version with the cage. The more variants the better, IMO.

people fail to understand that khabib wasn't born with this style, he adapted his style to the cage ... If their was no cage, he would just change his style.

Would like to see how succesful he is if he fight in a Ring like Rizin&Pride

Most of his fights were without a cage. He has very good open mat takedowns but his cage work is just better.

The question was about Khabib's style, not his opponents. You have reading comprehension diffculites ?

MMA without a cage would most likely look like a Usain bolt race ... Most of MMA finishes happens next to the cage for a reason, you can't run anymore !

He wasn't fighting UFC caliber fighters either.

Thats the case for 90% of the ufc roster, you dont start by fighting ufc caliber fighters, we should really include an iq test before you're allowed to comment here, like what the actual fuck

Oh damn you big mad or little mad? You sound big mad and I love it!

Opponents skill level is a big variable in counting his victories outside a cage. He literally fought Travis Fulton level opponents in doggysand!

It's like the people commenting on his past fights are experts and aren't sure if he's good or not yet.

But they can't tell by watching his fights straight away that he's strides ahead of any lightweight in the world.

Sheesh

Bagov and Eldarov have both turned out to be good, but both very early in their careers when they fought Khabib.

You'll have to make rules that prevent excessive avoiding. But fighters would also develop styles more suited to run and catch people who want to run. Probably would see more tackles. You could also have a light sensor mechanism to always determine how far the fighters are away from each other and have a rule of what the maximum range of separation between the fighters is allowed to be.
