How would he react to getting punched in the face?
Other players were punching him, kicking him, pulling him and even biting him and he took it all. He was tough as hell.
Here is one example of an dirty elbow to his mouth.

He was hit so hard that he lost not only few of his teeth but also suffered a blood poisoning infection. He had to visite hospital for surgical treatment and it troubled him for the rest of his life. In fact, Chamberlain was pulled, shoved, poked and grabbed many times through out his career.
