I think Maia should get a title shot if he beats Brown.

Most of Lawler's losses are through Submission(with the exception of Miller, only been subbed by the elite) and decision(not exactly overcame this as he lost his last fight).

Do you see Maia submitting him or winning a decision?Or another Lawler win?

Lawler by KO. His TDD is pretty awesome these days.

Maia could very well get Lawler down at some point and sub him.

Maia will do his best to smother him and drag him to the ground. If he succeeds, he wins, fairly one-sidedly.

Maia has taken down men who are much better at avoiding/stopping takedowns than Lawler.

If he doesn't sub him, he gets on his back and stays stuck there for the whole round.

Maia wins. Lawler is tremendous, and his power means that nothing is guaranteed, but the smart money would be on Maia.

Don't see this one going the distance, TKO or Sub within 3 rds.

a good striker with good takedown defense.
bad for Maia.
May look like Maia Vs Rory mac tbh.
Maia always so dangerous tho

If k1 Maia shows up then Lawler will win. If adcc Maia
Shows up the Maia will win

Maia via loss of blood to Ruthless's brain.

Lawler has excellent takedown and clinch defence, so I think he keeps it standing and busts Maia up. 2nd round KO.

I think Lawler will TKO/KO him, Lawler has great wrestling and scrambling, Maia is tough so he could hang on and get a submission but I think Lawler keeps it standing and gets the finish with strikes.

Maia is smart fighter though,
And Lawler has lost mostly to great wrestlers and grapplers,on which Maia is on par or is even better than.

Shields and Jacare have submitted him,Kennedy and Hendricks have won decisions,so I wouldn't count Maia out to do the same especially him being stylistically different from his last opponents and usually the type who beat Lawler.

Maia's style of grappling and taking his opponents down comes primarily from the clinch. I can definitely see a scenario where he pushes Lawler up against the fence, muscles him down, passes his guard, and locks in a choke or something. But I think the more probable scenario is that even if he gets Lawler down, Robbie'll pop right back up and ultimately find the space to land a few big shots that either put him away or keep him hesitant for the duration of the fight. If he can get Lawler down though, and keep him there, he can definitely sub him. I think he's is as superior of a grappler to Lawler as Lawler is a superior striker to him, if that makes sense.

If you spent a week reading Sherdog posts about Robbie Lawler, you'd think he was about the #10 ranked WW. After all, he will lose to Maia, Wonderboy, Condit, Lombard, GSP, Conor Fuckin' McGregor (people said that for a while), Nate Diaz, hell maybe even Gastellum, plus a few others on any given day.

Dude is the champ for a reason. Maia doesn't take down the 2016 version of Robbie (see: Hendricks fight), and Robbie busts him up on the feet something terrible. Robbie TKO in Round 3.
