Al is a very well rounded fighter with ko power who came in on a full training camp.

Khabib fought about half the fight with him on the ground and the other half on the feet.

How the fuck do you have holes when you have a score of 50-43?

I'm pretty sure even the most ardent (rational) Khabib fan would agree he has serious holes on the feet. The fact that he dominated Al doesn't change that.

he's there to be hit on the feet, his striking is less than impressive.

is this one of those complaints that Joe Rogan should have complimented one fighter for 25 minutes instead of trying to make it more interesting by finding something - anything - to say other than "man, Al is getting his ass handed to him" over and over and over again?

He has holes but less than Conor whose cardio and ground game sucks

You can have a hole in your game, but be so dominant in one or two aspects that you can dominate certain fighters. Especially through grappling.

Domination isn't perfectly tied to well-roundness.

i actually havent seen either of khabibs last 2 fights vs barboza or iquanta. (did see him destroy johnson).

But just from reading numerous threads on sherdog both immediately after and in following days, it seemed khabib looked like an unbeatable force who would be heavy favorite over anyone at 155 after the barboza fight and after the iquanta fight, suddenly not quite so dominant and a tony fight seems much more 50/50 regardless of the lopsided score.

In comparison to someone that is barely ranked yes Khabib's 50-43 doesn't have that many holes. People made these same arguments with Ronda Rousey's striking, once Khabib faces a striker that can grapple with him or stop the shot, it will look a lot like Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen 2 or Werdum vs Velasquez or Holm vs Ronda.

he's no Wonderboy but if he were standing opposite Wonderboy he would take him the fuck down. what he lacks in striking he makes up for with his bread and butter. that's his "striking defence". he avoids getting hit by throwing people to their backs. Khabib has elite striking defence relative to MMA

In his striking.

Did you even watch the fight or just look up the results? It’s not like he got a 10-8 in rounds 3 or 4.

Of course it's possible to be utterly dominant and still have holes in your game. It's just that Khabib's hole is a par 5, with lots of hazards between you and it.

This. His grappling threat allows him to get away w reckless abandon in his standup. Meanwhile..his striking is improving as he goes along

His blocking is good too actually. For someone who comes forward as much as he does he doesnt get hit clean alot. Its when he backs up that he could get caught.

Only on Sherdog is a decision more impressive than actually finishing a realtor.

When people say he has holes, but nobody has the skill set to exploited them yet, that to me is insane.
There isn't a fighter in the LW division that has this magical skill set of perfect TDD and knockout power.

If Tibau and Conor make a baby, I'm sure Khabib will be worried. Until then he'll be just fine.
