How do you grasp the idea that something has always existed?

Maybe the universe expands and contracts and just goes on this cycle forever. I don't even want to touch the multiverse idea in this thread. But hell, even if you think a God made everything, you have the same dilemma. How can something have always been there, if there is no starting point? I cannot even come up with some far fetched theory on the how.

The honest answer until better information comes along is usually "I don't know."

IF the universe has always existed, I have made this post before and you have replied before an infinite amount of times.

I mean fuck. It is like an ant trying to understand quantum mechanics.

It's a very old philosophical question, often springing from theology. Obviously, nobody knows what the answer to it is. There are multiple wiki pages about it with various considerations on it. Here's some random links with excerpts for anyone interested -

It's best not to think about these things.

Also how much acid did you take.

As a child you learn things exist even when they disappear from view, it's called object permanence. Then you learn things have beginnings and ends again later.

So really you just have to adopt a previously held belief.

Don't you wish you could ask an alien what they know about these things?

No that’s not true. You would’ve made this post before an infinite amount of times in the multiverse not in our universe alone. The reason is you haven’t always existed in our universe. In the multiverse yes but in our universe, no.

It’s like saying if you gave a monkey a typewriter an infinite amount of times eventually the monkey would type Shakespeare. It’s mind bending stuff but when you talk about Infinity it’s more of a though experiment than anything else.

Yes and they’d only ask you for semen samples as payment for that knowledge.

Honestly, it doesn't interest me because it's an endless, unanswerable question. "Who or what created creation, and how?" - it's just too abstract for me.

If you can accept the fact that nothing cannot exist (as in no o such thing as empty space), then it's less difficult to see why something always had to be
