Reason I'm asking is because I've been taking my daughter with me on some side jobs since she was 10... she's almost 16 now. She's steadily been going to more and more side jobs with me over the last 4 years.
I've exhausted myself drumming in work safety inside her head, of course.
She knows how to use a multimeter well for checking power, continuity, capacitance, etc.. she's proficient with using HVAC gauges and checking pressures of different refrigerants. She knows how to solder and she's been brazing copper for a year now... Recently, she figured out a problem with a unit before I did.
She's not afraid to get dirty, she'll crawl in attics to pull wire or do ductwork. And most importantly, she seems to enjoy working in this environment. If nothing else, she enjoys to work with me. Money is good. She makes more money than any 16 year old out there. Aside from that, she's pretty normal. She goes to school, likes to read a ton of books, play videogames.
A few weeks ago, she told me she wants to get a universal EPA cert in the future, which actually got me excited for her.
I work in the trades and there's not a single female in my department, aside from the secretary.
