ive watched these Russian guys like Fedor,Igor, and Alex and they have a unique way of punching, like throwing there hooks....there arms look kinda like rubber when they swing especaily Fedor.....how does this guy throw those hooks left right left right with speed and with ease.......i have a hard time trying throw fast combination hooks....im kinda slow......im Samoan so i hit like these Samoan guys like David Tua and Hunt......i count on one hit and when i throw my combinations it may not be fast but id say its alright speed.....so yea just wondering how could i work on my speed with my hooks??

Just by relaxing.

Don't clench your fist fully until a split second before inpact.

by doing it alot. i mean im not trying to be a dick here but how do you think fedor developed his gnp? by lying on the bag for hours every day, hitting it.

it's what the russians do, they train hard and they train alot.

I heard that punching with weights in your hand is actually detremental because it gets your timing off, but if you train with elastics it improves your speed. Also, jump on the speed bag. It helps build up your shoulder / get your hand eye coordination better and it works you small twitch muscle fibers therefore making you faster.

Okay, I think he's talking about TECHNIQUE guys. Regardless of the fact that they obviously trained a lot to get good at what they do, there is still an underlying technique TO practice.

You don't just practice hooks do you? You learned how first. He's asking about the actual body mechanics.

i've seen boxers punch faster and harder than those guys.. but then again.. they are boxers
with clenched fist too its called genetics

Anyone notice that Fedor and Vov's punches look more like Karate/Kung Fu inner knife hand strikes? I used slo-mo to see how Fedor was tossing his punches and basically most of the punches that end up rocking his opponent come from the side with a sweeping motion, land with almost a fully extended elbow, and make contact with the inner side of his fist (which is why I'm thinking he needed surgery on his hand specifically near the thumb.)

Anyone else notice this too?

Find that one video of him training, and study the three second clip of him punching.

Is the Fedor training vid the one where he is also jogging with his bros and using a sledge hammer to hit a large tire? I think in that one, I see him shadow box as well.

This is the thing, in Wandy's training vid and Fedor's training vid, they are both shadow boxing the standard jab, cross, left hook. Once they get into the ring, well it's a whole different story.

Maybe I saw a different training vid than the one you are talking about? I still think that he's basically throwing a knife hand. Jab, cross, then sweeping knife hand-like punches to the chin.

it comes from unique Russian exercises.

originally comes from their martial arts, then made into exercise
done by military and sport athletes.

You can find the same movements in Systema & ROSS.

plus their punching bags are much harder
than most punching bags in the world :)
