Seriously, i don't get why so many fighters get "sick" before their fights and in their post interview come up with this "excuse".You don't have any 8-17 job, no time constraint, nothing. The only thing you have to do is train and eat properly. Specially during fight camp till the fight you should be at your peak physical level (at least if you're a pro athlete). I get that cutting weight is taxing on your body and your immune system at that time may not be on his all time high, but its just paying a bit attention for a lilttle amount of time and you should still be in your top physical level since the fight is approaching.

I guess like mostly they get "suck" before the fight from hookers and stuff unless maybe they got girlfriends and stuff

Nikikta apparently got food poisoning from eating at the UFC performance institute.

So this looks like its a case of the UFC having dogshit-low standards in regard to food and cleanliness and such. Rats in the kitchen? Uncle Dana and ESPN wanting to save an extra buck.

weight cuts are hard on the body

It's not just the weight cut directly, which sometimes goes bad and fighters think they'll recover over the 24 hours they have to rehydrate but they don't recover and then end up pulling out.

Sometimes it's that while you're cutting so much weight during fight week and especially right before the fight, you're malnourished and your immune system crashes. Any kind of underlying health issue, any kind of rash, any kind of cold or virus can become exacerbated very easily in this time window. It's also way easier for you to get sick during these few days because again, your immune system is fucked. I learned what I could and couldn't eat after making weight but there's been times even when I eat the blandest stuff that my body is usually okay with, it's just not okay with it. Eating whole meals after days of eating so little and after sitting in saunas and bath tubs can be such a shock, I've had diarrhea once before a grappling event that was pretty bad.

Yeah, cutting weight fucks your body, especially guys who are cutting 15+lbs in the last 48 hours and then putting back on 15-20lbs in the last 24 hours. Shit some guys actually rehydrate 25+lbs in the last 24 hours.

Weight cuts. Horrible practice. Almost like cheating, but allowed.

I think it's allowed because there's no clear solution to fixing it and if there was, which I've never heard of a good idea on the topic in how to stop weight cutting, it would probably bring a bag of new problems.

Nobody wants weight cutting, not even the fuckers doing it. But I heard morons on here saying Islam didn't have a size advantage over Volk because they both weighed the same. I found that hilarious, there's a reason why Islam kills himself to make 155lbs and there's a reason why Volk has fought almost entirely at 145lbs...because there's a very real advantage to size and weight cutting in general.

I get sick a few times a year and I don't cut any weight at all so...

I didn't get sick before either of my 2 amateur fights but I got sick IMMEDIATELY after both fights. Started feeling sick in the locker room 5 minutes after both fights and was sick for several days after. Cutting weight is stressful and the fight itself is stressful to your immune system as well
