How did Hunt survive on the ground, but Mir got wrecked?

He shouldn't have eaten those strawberries...

Mir is a BJJ guy. BJJ guys typically do badly against bigger, stronger wrestlers.

Hunt is not a BJJ guy, he just knows how to defend takedowns and on the ground. And he did exactly that. He's also significantly stronger than Mir and probably about as strong as Lesnar, Lesnar is just a much better wrestler and probably heavier.

Brock was more of a beast back then, and maybe Mir underestimated Brock after submitting him the first time.

Mir is a human being, and Hunt is made of 90% granite (under the fat).

We're also looking at Lesnar at different points in his life. But mostly, it's because Hunt is just a survivor.

Hunts chin is also better

Well for starters, Hunts chin is alot tougher, and Hunt never really recovered after that ground and pound from the first round. Those were some monster shots Brock was throwing

The answer will vary depending on if you are a Mark Hunt fan, a Mark Hunt hater, a Brock Lesnar fan, a Brock Lesnar hater, a Frank Mir fan, a Frank Mir hater or any possible combination of the above.

That's just weird...

Completely different position and technique separated by years of time. For example, when he finished Mir he had Mir pinned up against the cage like this.

Also, Mir is easier to KO than Hunt, however, Hunt should thank his lucky stars the fight wasn't 5 rounds. Brock had already beaten Hunt up pretty bad by the end of the 3rd. Had there been a 4th and 5th round Hunt would have likely been pounded out just like Mir was.

It isn't weird. Mir's defensive grappling is terrible.

Mir is a live by the sword, die by the sword kind of guy. He either takes a limb or gets pounded out. There's no middle ground with Mir.

Brock hated Mir.

He might even like Hunt.

Hunt reportedly has a coconut head

Mir's head is made out of strawberries

You do the physics

Hunt is crazy strong, also of course helps to have that granite chin and great instincts when it comes to fighting. I think if Mark had a proper fight camp, it would have been different story.

and we know where you stand bro :)

Mir has always had a glass jaw whereas Hunt has a jaw made out of stone.
