I'm just curious. Maybe posters smarter than myself can tell me.

He wrestled almost all of his opponents and then tentatively outstruck a few wrestlers.

Yeah, take down strikers and jab grapplers. How BRILLIANT.

GSP and Zahabi and/or Jackson being brilliant game planners is a myth.

GSP was a great fighter, but his supposed game planning is BS. He just had the best offensive MMA wrestling in history and solid striking. Those were his true skills.

No one is smarter than you. I commend your humility though.

Are you saying that playing to your strengths isn't game planning?

If he outwrestled the strikers and outstruck the wrestlers is that not a game plan?

I see what you are saying. It was very simple and basic but that is how most gameplans are. You can't rely on some super specific and elaborate gameplan because the fight game is wildly unpredictable. Plus, GSP's game plan always worked except for Hughes 1, Serra 1 and Hendricks.

I would say the best at game plans I have ever seen were Randy and Fedor.

He gave Nick Diaz plenty of chances to win in that case.

Yes it's a game plan but it's not exceptional. Many fighters have a mixed style.

Hendricks took down Condit and Lawler and struck with grapplers like Fitch and Brenneman.

Frankie Edgar, Mighty Mouse, etc. all employ similar strategies yet for some reason GSP is the one who is known for brilliant game planning

Except what you posted is wrong. He outstruck every fightter, including strikers.

    Sig. strikes at distance
    GSP: 62
    Diaz: 24

    GSP: 84
    Hendricks: 52

    GSP: 26
    Condit: 23

Against Diaz and Condit both I believe we're about 50% time spent standing with GSP winning most of the stand up too.

There is more than one example of him taking down great wrestlers and winning striking exchanges with great strikers.

But even if he literally never planned, your jab at him and his team is still stupid because instead you are crediting them with creating a fighter so incredible, he didn't even need to plan to be the most dominant WW of all time.

Why do people insist on posting idiotic crap like this? Is it just because you get so tired of always complaining about how boring he is that you start to just make shit up?
Let's take GSP vs BJ Penn, for example.
Person A says GSP's striking wasn't all that, Person B points out the way he fucked up BJ Penn who was supposedly the best striker in MMA at the time according to Rogan. Person C says, well he took him down and wore him out fist before going after him in striking. Person D says he doesn't game plan, just wrestles and I say WTF? You can't discount his strinking on the basis that he mixed it with wrestling in an effective and pre-planned way and then also say there was no game planning. GTFO.

I am not jabbing at GSP or his team (well, a little) I'm jabbing at the so called educated fans that have invented a fake narrative about his career.

My point is exactly what you said. He was an amazing wrestler. When he outstruck guys like Diaz and Condit a big part of the reason was because they were scared of the takedown and fought conservatively.

After he destroyed Penn he was asked the plan and he said something to the effect of the plan was to clinch him, tire his arms out by building lactic acid to make Penn's striking less dangerous and then to attack. Sounds like a pretty good plan to me.

Or he found a 1 size fits all gameplan by taking very little risk and making ever so slight adjustments per opponent.

    Defintely not the Diaz fight.

100% his most boring fight and his safest. He spent majority of time on top going back and fourth from half gaurd to gaurd.
