Shouldn't baddest be a synonym of worst? Most bad?

If you are the baddest man on the planet that's a good thing.
But if you are the worst man on the planet you're just a piece of shit.

Similar to my threads are The Shit, where as @Clippy's threads are shit.

One is good, one is bad.

These subtleties must make english a confusing language to learn.

I wonder how these strange opposite usages developed.

Well, the first line of the song is "Your ass is mine", which has always confused me, because whoever he's addressing clearly has their own ass.

I don't know what that has to do with, but Jamone.

Who's Jamone?

A little-known waitress in a dreary little town in North Dakota. Every day she dreams of moving to Central City and moving into a spacious apartment.

But her two kids and trailer home weigh like a prisoner's ball and chain, dragging her down into madness.

She considers her options. She chooses a day, a day she will free herself. She calls in sick and locks all the doors. She goes to the safe and unlocks it.

And takes out all the money she has saved there and buys a puppy?

Slang makes any language tough to learn.

The bad boy image developed as a kind of edgey, cool, tough guy in the ‘50s with James Dean:

Then bad simply became synonymous with cool, tough, edgy. It was quicker to just say “bad boy.” Eventually “boy” fell off, because slang usually becomes more efficient over time, and it just became “bad.” So to say someone is “the baddest” is to say “the coolest, toughest and most edgey.”
