Definitely a VERY weak win to gain a title shot from, but I think it's going to be a fun fight regardless. Reeeallly shouldn't be for McGregors title shot though...

There's no real protocol for this, so how is it "weak"?

His destruction of Poirier and his three other wins were good enough to get a title shot as is. This is just a placeholder fight, really, but hey anything can happen, even if it probably won't.

Siver's only recent losses are to Cowboy and Cub Swanson. Hasn't had big name wins, but I wouldn't put him much out of Conor's range as far as ranking. I want Conor to win, but I fear it may be spoiled. This is really the first time Conor hasn't been the underdog, and while I don't expect him to take Dennis lightly, I do fear that he wont perform as well being the favorite as he does as the underdog.

Not a fan but lots of guys have gotten easy trip to the title. Take Cain for instance, he was fighting guys like Kongo while JDS was made to fight guys like Yvel.

It's a joke if he gets a TS of a win over Siver. But he likely will. Anyway this fight is far from a freebie despite what you may think Siver is still a dangerous fight for anyone.

What kind of logic is that? Of course a title shot can be weakly earned, even if there's no definite league system in the UFC.

To respond: I think the McGregor - Siver fight will be fun, but the timing of the matchmaking is a bit off. I mean, McGregor fighting Siver would've made sense ranking wise a couple of fights ago, but now McGregor REALLY should've been matched with someone higher. And even though he definitely has taken a step down here, the fact that he will still be given a title shot with a win shows that the UFC has an agenda here. There's definitely no protocol at work, my point is that maybe there should be.

Connor reminds me of the kid in high school we all knew who tried way too hard to be interesting.

You see Connor in casual pictures where people look like they're having a good time, but he's in a goofy fight pose with a mean mug on.

When he talks, garbage comes spilling out.

He's a damn talented fighter, but he has the personality of salted cardboard. I can't imagine he'd be fun to hang out with.

If McGregor gets hurt or caught and still wins, it's still a lose for him. It'll damage his image. Conor has to completely destroy Siver in order to be taken seriously against Jose. If Conor doesn't finish Siver, his stock drops.

JDS also did fight Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson and Cain fought Nog. Cain was actually the underdog in the fight.
