Ngannou vs Gane countdown has 409k views, barely more than Moreno vs Figueiredo's 377k......... is Ngannou really a much bigger star right now than Moreno who seems to have the nation of Mexico behind him? If he isn't then what leverage does Ngannou have in demanding to be paid far more than Stipe used to be paid?

Not much. The UFC stopped pushing him like crazy way back on Stipe 1 because he behaved like an entitled diva.

Francis seems to think we need to tune in for obvious reasons and he doesnt need to promote the fight.

Guess what: fighter pay is not a compelling story. Francis is boring and whiny and wasting his golden opportunity.

Francis is definitely a lot less popular than he thinks he is.

With the price increase and lackluster hype buildup this pov could pull some pretty weak numbers. Also no Americans in the main event.

Moreno is a very likeable dude. Not sure he will translate that to 74.99 ppv buys though.

The reason PRIDE is, was, and will always be the best is because of the solid HW division and they didn't promote shit.

3.50
Had to get that out of the way.
I don't think he is a big star apart from being well known by those that follow MMA.
Then looking scary to those that are clueless and being hyped as hitting like a car at full speed bs

He is not a needle mover.

I don’t think he is a star, but he sure acts like he is.

He just needs a marquee fight. In boxing that's how boxing stars get made. They have to fight a star and win. If he goes to boxing he'll get more well known, especially if he fights Fury. That's what actually raised Conor's fame/money was the Mayweather fight. Mayweather became a star after the De La Hoya fight, that's when he changed from Pretty Boy to Floyd Money Mayweather.

I suspect really thats part of why he wanted Jones so much, right now he's just on the verge of being a star but needs a big fight but really there doesnt seem to be anyone at HW in MMA who could fill that besides Jones.

Not could pull weak numbers, it will.

He’s a star, the official UFC promo from last month is at 1.3mil views, for comparison the Conor vs Dustin III official UFC fight preview is at 2.1mil now, and that’s like 6-7 months old.

he’s not a super star, but if he was given a decent main card to work with he would do 600k or so I believe. He’s pretty easy to promote, and it’s hard to believe this is his first title defense given his highlight reel and mystique.

The problem is who the hell would pay for this PPV, not many. Nobody is paying for this card, and it doesn’t really matter who is headlining(minus a Mcgregor card), Izzy is about to go through the same thing, though to a slightly lesser degree.

The next few PPV’s are gonna have subpar numbers I believe. Colby v Masvidal has big potential though, but you have to make the cards atleast decent.

UFC 251 reportedly did 1.3mil buys world wide, but that card featured 3 titles fights, Jose Aldo, Petr Yan, Volk, Max, Masvidal, and Usman. It had something for everyone, and these cards are no where near that quality.

There isn’t a guy on the roster apart from Conor, who can command 1mil buys on their star power alone, so if you can hit the 600-700k range that’s definitely star worthy IMO

That and a million other reasons sir.

Cameroon doesn't have a combat sports history like Mexico does. And mostly the news about him have been the contract dispute, the pay and boxing. It's not like he has a built-in fanbase or he's been going on a media tour.

So for being a big, imposing KO artist HW champ there isn't much attachment.
