Maybe after Shogun exposes Volkan.
I thought DC already did that.
Please remind me when we have ever seen Shogun use any wrestling? I really cannot remember. Dan Henderson? When he was gassed lmao. I like Shogun, but he isn't nearly the same fighter as he was in Pride. Shogun doesn't have a reliable and consistent takedown game. If Saki spends time in Turkey to work on wrestling, Shogun would be screwed.Shogun said in his last interview that he won't think twice about using grappling against Volkan if he needs to (probably will), i'm not sure where people came with this idea that Shogun is just a striker, he will takedown anyone without great grappling and beat them on the ground as he used to against Overeem and some other PRIDE fights, if he thinks it makes things easier..
Shogun would shoot for a takedown in like 1min against Saki
Volkan is a much better kickboxer than Griffin ever was.. and Griffin was a pretty good grappler so i don't get your comparison at all.tbh DC "exposes" the entire division save for Jones.
Shogun is gonna show Volkan was never a high level fighter and was at the right place at the right time. Modern Forrest Griffin with a bit more power and a shittier ground game.
Pretty sure Saki gassed out in like 3min, so he has 1 round to KO Shogun (who to this day still has a chin) or he will be there just waiting to be taken down by Shogun, and once at the ground.. would be a mismatch. Shogun isn't a good wrestler by any means, but i'm not impressed by Saki TDD, the guy he fought was a striker and not one of the most intelligent, Shogun is a complete different fighter. From what we saw in the octagon, Saki isn't ready. Please remind me when we have ever seen Shogun use any wrestling? I really cannot remember. Dan Henderson? When he was gassed lmao. Nordine is a solid kickboxer, that's actually a great win to a MMA fighter.
Maybe so, but you also have to take into account that Saki had not fought in over 2 years, had an injury and his last fight was a kickboxing bout. I am sure it would be a mismatch on the ground, but I think Saki will look much better in his third mma fight.. Saki looked good though. He pulled back, countered, landed nice hooks, even a double hook which was sweet. I think Saki eats him up standing, but I don't know if Shogun can take him down if Saki is fresh and has worked any type of mma wrestling.Pretty sure Saki gassed out in like 3min, so he has 1 round to KO Shogun (who to this day still has a chin) or he will be there just waiting to be taken down by Shogun, and once at the ground.. would be a mismatch. Nice, a gif from 2009... 9 years ago, lol. Nice ko, and it showed Shogun's non-existent leg lock game... I don't see why mma fighters dive on leg locks (except Ryan Hall) because they are not good at them, lol.
Can't use a ground game without a solid takedown game..Shogun wins by ground game
I'm not talking only about power. He's much more technical and he's bigger than Forrest, who was more of a in-between 185 and 205 imo. And this isn't MT, it's kickboxing. Agree to disagree i guess.I'm comparing him to Forrest as in being in the right place at the right time. I mentioned how he has more power and a lesser ground game than Forrest.
I watched the first round of the muay thai fight. Slopfest.
Would have loved to see Gus shred Volkan on the feet, but I'll be okay with Shogun beating him up as well.
