How about Rory vs Benson Henderson in Decemember?

As far as I know both guys are looking to make a return around December and with Rory haven beaten the majority of top fighters that are available and Henderson looking to establish himself in the division immediately I think the fight would make a lot of sense. What do you guys think? I imagine Rory would probably be able to stop him within 3 rounds

 

Would be all kinds of fun. I think Bendo would be biting off more than he could chew at 170 with that matchup, though.

Filling in on short notice against good but not elite 170ers is one thing. Taking on any of the perennial top 3-4 could be trouble for him.

But if he wants to go for it, I'll gladly watch.

 

Might as well get it over with and show Bendo he's not a true WW. He was getting ragdolled by Thatch before Thatch gassed.

People need to cool it with the Ben Henderson hype. He is arguably 3-7 in his last 10 and only has 1 win at WW over a can... in what way does he deserve to face the last guy who fought for the belt? And really it's not even in a negative way that he doesn't "deserve" it - it's a question of why the fuck would you give a former champion of a smaller division such a difficult fight in only his 2nd fight at the new weight class? Let the guy build up a few wins before he fights a top 10 let alone a top 3. Even someone like Maia or Brown is too much for him right now; why rush him?

Make Ben Henderson fight Tarec Saffedine in a battle between the 2 guys everyone seems to undeservingly put in matchups way beyond their current statuses.

 

Sounds great to me. That being said I'd be excited to see Henderson against pretty much any top 15 WW.

 

Rory is just too big and strong and good at WW for Bendo. Bendo is kind of stuck in between LW and WW right now, kind of like Rich was for a while with MW and LHW. Sure he could have some exciting WW fights but he's not cracking the top 7-8 IMO. Much of Bendo's sucess is built on a bullying/pressureing style that just wears LW out eventually. He can't bully WW as much.

 

Not really interested seeing him fight another lightweight. I'd rather see him fight Matt Brown.

Gunnar isn't all that much bigger than Benson you know.

 

While he is putting on muscle I would like to see him take one more 10-20 guy...

I do think Benson can do well at welterweight. Would also like him to work a bit on getting his hands a bit heavier, sorta set down on a few more strikes... Not all of em mind you... But he will need that "thump" to get respect and not be on his heels.

I can see Benson doing what he does, trying to win a decision by point fighting, but Rory needs to come back with a decisive win so he would go after the finish for sure.

 

I was wanting Henderson vs Erick Silva more.

 

I wouldn't mind this, but I think Benson needs a guy like Maia or Stun Gun before he starts facing the elite of the division

 

This would be awesome, even Henderson vs Rick Story would be a good fight, the winner of that fight would be very fitting for Bendo's next at WW in my opinion

bendos biggest asset at LW was size/strength. hes now at a disadvantage. bendo is very well rounded and athletic. his strength and athleticism were a strength and now its going to be a weakness

Henderson is elite but Macdonald would pick him apart, take him down and methodically beat him up
