Television HOUSE OF THE DRAGON (Renewed for Season 2, post #571)

So basically dude turned into a giant piece of shit and got banned. Got it.

Binged it with the GF this week. Wasn’t going to bother, but quite enjoyed.

The switch in actresses midway took a bit of getting used to, and there were several scenes which didn’t make much sense, but overall was a pleasant surprise.

Daemon is my HotD Jaime. Bit of a bastard, but my favourite character.

Not really sure which side we’re meant to root for. In typical GRRM there is no black and white, but most of the characters are a pretty dark grey.

The overall standard of acting is very good.

I dunno if they will ever film jarhaeyrs marrying his sister in secret and his hand arriving to try and stop it,but the dialogue in that scene is amazing and some of Martin's best writing.
Probably my favourite part of the book.
Lord Rogar was not so easily cowed. Blunt and to the point, he asked only if the marriage had been consummated. "Tell me true, Your Grace. Was there a bedding? Did you claim her maidenhead? "No," the king replied. "She is too young." At that Lord Rogar smiled. "Good. You are not wed." He turned to the knights who had accompanied him from King's Landing. "Separate these children, gently if you please. Escort the princess to Sea Dragon Tower and keep her there. His Grace shall accompany us back to the Red Keep." But as his men moved forward, the seven knights of Jaehaerys's Kingsguard stepped up and drew their swords. "Come no closer," warned Ser Gyles Morrigen. "Any man who lays a hand upon our king and queen shall die today." Lord Rogar was dismayed. "Sheath your steel and move aside," he commanded. "Have you forgotten? I am the King's Hand." "Aye," old Sour Sam answered. "but we're the Kingsguard, not the Hand's guard, and it's the lad who sits the chair, not you." Rogar Baratheon bristled at Ser Samgood's words, and answered, "You are seven. I have half a hundred swords behind me. A word from me and they will cut you to pieces." "They might kill us," replied young Pate the Woodcock, brandishing his spear, "but you will be the first to die, m'lord, you have my word upon that."

Is the series going to end after the Dance of Dragons? Or keep going for the story afterward? There's a lot of story afterward.

It will never end, just like The Walking Dead. Should Ser Criston Cole survive, he’ll look like a toddler come season 27.

Benjamin Button-esque, Joe.

and beforehand. I think GRRM said he thinks it will take 5 seasons to properly tell the Dance of Dragons. The story will slow down massively going forward, and you won't have time jumps.

Not that awards matter, but pretty surprised Paddy Considine was overlooked for a best actor nomination at the Golden Globes.

They don't make any sense at all. Diego Luna got one for Andor when there were several standouts far more deserving.

Watched a bit of Andor and thought it was okay, but Luna's performance was nothing special.

Considine was up there with Charles Dance in the original GOT, imo.......and just checking he wasn't nominated either.

Just checking, the only nominations from GOT were:

Peter Dinklage for S1
Lena Heady for S6.......hmmmm, not her best season
Kit Harrington for S8 ......LOL, literally the worst season/performance from any of the major characters.

Winning Golden Globes is about having a great agent and friends in the industry.

Meh, it's the Golden Globes, not the Emmys.

Finally got around to watching this. Watched 9 out of 10 episodes and it doesn't seem like it's going to get very good. I mean there's only 1 episode left. Doesn't seem like I was missing much.

Don't get the rave reviews. There are many better shows atm.

if you are 90% through & you don’t like it you probably should have stopped 5 episodes ago. Life is short. Maybe you feel like you have a sunk cost you can’t walk away from

I can't recall the last time I made it through an episode of a show and didn't finish the season. I pretty much always give it at least one season. I even made it through the entire season of The Peripheral, lol (won't be watching Season 2 of that one).
